Looking Ahead in a Divided Country

wondering
This thread isn’t going to get shut down.

Please hear me sister.

A house divided cannot stand. If we claim Christ as our Lord and Savior, then even Paul urges many times, to many churches to remain United in Christ and seek unity, especially in our cultural differences.

There are many Christians that believe the Democrats are the spawn of Satan and there are a few Christians that believe Republicans are the spawn of Satan. I’m halfway inclined to think both views are correct. Just as Jesus told Peter, “Away from me, Satan”, I believe Satan uses his same influence on us.

what does Jesus say? If you love me, keep my commandments. And what else does Jesus say? The world will know you are mine by the love you have for one another.

We don’t compromise on Gods word, but we don’t throw the baby out with the bath water either. The church in Corinth had some real issues. Some were more wretched than non believers. Yet Paul continued to call them Christians. He only
advocating shunning when sinful behavior continued after offering help which was refused.

That’s pretty extreme in today’s culture.

we are ignorant of history .
well I'm,not but that diesnt imply I know all of the events that seem to recycle .Jan 6th of 2021 wasn't the only time the capitol was seized ,though hardly an attempt

race riots of 68,
1787 protest by veterans of the war for independence
the bonus army protest that was peaceful and hoover under advisement from MacArthur cleared them out and women and kids were shot
the bombing in the 50s by the Puerto Rican terrorist group

not that it ever was fully.

In part but not fully lay blame upon the hippies .

sure racism was awful ,there were the lies of the reasons for Viet nam.

the posts on things like that that the kkk did under the protection from the state's can't be ignored ,we ended that and now are turning against the white folk who had nothing to do with that or the past racial strife.

i don't want to derail this on my local knowledge of Florida history . in short we do well to remember

alcohol was illegal ,the feds poisoned people making moonshine
the syphilis experiments on blacks
abortion anyone ?
eugenics was acceptable in our culture prior ww2 and viola it is once again see roe v wade ,and the stats
Well Jason,
Thank God those days are over.
It works both ways I guess.

Wait. I'm not calling Christians anything.
I'm speaking about the left and the right and their ideals.
They each have a set of goals they would like to achieve.
I happen to be on the right side. (meaning not the left).

And I'm not speaking about churches.
Anyone that believes in Jesus' sacrifice and His teachings is considered to be a Christian
with whom we may have some differences regarding doctrine.

We absolutely are to keep His commandments, but He said to give to Caesar what is
his and to give to God what is His.

I obey my government (at least for now) and hope I'll be able to till my dying day.
But I fear for those growing up now. I fear for the world they'll live in.

Another poster just told me it's derogatory to call it the Chinese Virus.
I believe a law was passed regarding this making it illegal.
Do we realize where we're headed?
It looks like a totalitarian state to me.
I hope I'm wrong.
(and it looks like it's coming from the left wing)

you assume that it is.

most babies aborted are black and try holding a protest sign over that and see the hatred .

my county ran off ppl.but the democrat controlled county to the south not so at all and yes you get cursed and in some places even worse .

I,would love to say racism is dead but the fact is the lunatics that allowed Chaz a sedition, and treasonous group to own parts of Seattle .that group charged tolls for whites to walk on the side walks and use roads.

all, endorsed until they bothered the mayor ,a Democrat lunatic .

I think that racism as I remember it is dead.
There will always be some that are racist...I don't think it'll ever be totally erradicated.

What I DO believe is very important is that INSTITUTIONAL RACISM no longer exists.
Would you agree with that?

I mean, I heard Biden at his swearing in say that he will erradicate institutional racism....
Did he realize there was a BLACK VICE PRESIDENT sitting next to him?

I think it's been erradicated !!

Wait. I'm not calling Christians anything.
I'm speaking about the left and the right and their ideals.
Thank you for listening to me.

It doesn’t matter if a Christian is on the Left or on the Right. They are still Christians and as Christians, we are commanded to have a spirit of unity. A house divided cannot stand.

As Christians, what ideals do we hold, and are those ideals in unity with Gods word. Those are the discussions we as Christians need to be having.

Again, I bring up the church in Corinth. They had some pretty big issues. Yet Paul pushes for unity right off the bat. We’re no different. Some say they are Republican, some say they are Democrat. Don’t we know we were baptized into Christ? If we are going to find our identity in anything, it’s got to be rooted in Christ because that’s what will keep us United.

SB....I think speaking about unity in Christianity and unity in our nation (yeah, I still consider it my nation)...
is two different things.

You're making me think and it's late at night!

In Christianity unity is possible because we agree on the big stuff.

Does the left agree with the right on the big stuff?

What is the big stuff?
Do we have the same view on the family?
On gender differences?
On financial matters?
On how to help the poor?
there's more, but you get what I mean.

I just don't think there could be unity.
The difference, IMO, is that years ago there wasn't much
difference between the two parties.
They say that if JFK were alive today, he'd be considered a
Republican.

Years ago there were some in the Dem party that voted with the
Reps on abortion issues. This is not true anymore.
Plus the Dems stick together making them more powerful as a party
and getting their agenda into practice..

I think there's too much difference today.
Do YOU think there could be unity politically?
(I'm not speaking about Christianity).

You answered nothing I asked. What are you going to build unity on to help bridge the divide? What are you willing to compromise for the sake of unity?

Hope is nothing without substance. We are talking about present day America, not the Church.

If the church isn't the center of your conversation, then why talk at all?

Gosh RT....
We can't always talk about the church.
When we get something from the government, they (thankfully) don't
ask what church we belong to.

When we go to buy food, we're not asked what church we go to.
We still have to live a real life facing real problems.
God could help us in ways only we Christians know...but He's not going
to make miracles for us to have smooth sailing....
Some things have nothing to do with Christianity...
except for us personally...I can't express myself properly.

There was racism against hispanics too.
Even Italians when I was a little girl.
The point is that everyone should be treated the same.
No matter what race.

yet we are endorsing politicians who, push policies that do the opposite .
