Lords Supper - Communion

The literal bread and wine of Communion needs to draw us to the fellowship of one another through Christ at the last supper as we reflect on what Christ sacrificed for us as in "take and eat-take and drink" as being the literal flesh and blood of Christ as He was beaten and His flesh literally shredded clear down to the bones of Christ by the cat of nine tails that tore through His flesh being so horrific that He was unrecognizable. The blood that flowed (not trickle) from the top of His head down to His feet was for the remission of sin once and for all as the blood of bulls and goats could not take away sin as those sacrifices by the law were not pleasing to the Father, Hebrews 10:1-18.

Instead of debating whether the bread and the wine is real or only symbolizes that of His flesh and blood when we partake worthily of communion, 1 Corinthians 11:23-30, let's reflect on that which Christ went through for His love for all as it's in giving of Himself as His blood cleanses us of sin as atonement has now been made once and for all under the new covenant of God's grace, 1 John 5:1-7.

ISAIAH 50:6 I HID NOT MY FACE FROM SHAME.

JOHN 18:22 FIRST TO HIT JESUS WITH AN OPEN PALM ON HIS FACE WAS A PAGAN ARMY OFFICER.

JOHN 18:23 JESUS ASKED THE OFFICER "WHY DID YOU HIT ME"?

ISAIAH 50:6 I ALSO HID NOT MY FACE FROM SPITTING.

MARK 15:19 A REED HIT HIM ON THE HEAD.

LUKE 22:63 THEY HIT HIS BODY WITH THEIR FISTS.

ISAIAH 53:5 HE WAS BRUISED FOR OUR INIQUITIES.

ISAIAH 50:6 I GAVE MY CHEEKS TO THEM THAT PLUCKED OFF MY BEARD.

JOHN 19:2 A CROWN OF THORNS WAS FORCED INTO THE FLESH OF HIS HEAD

MATTTHEW 27:28 STRIPPED NAKED.

ISAIAH 50:6 I GAVE MY BACK TO THE SMITERS.

PSALMS 22:17 I COUNT MY BONES: THEY LOOK AND STARE UPON ME

ISAIAH. 53:2 WHEN WE SEE HIM, THERE IS NO BEAUTY THAT WE SHOULD DESIRE HIM.

ISAIAH 52:14 MANY WERE ASTONISHED AT HIM. HIS FACE AND BODY WAS MARRED MORE THAN ANY MAN.

JOHN 19:23 SOLDIERS CRUCIFIED CHRIST JESUS.

JOHN 19:36, PSALMS 34:20, NOT A BONE OF HIS BODY COULD BE BROKEN.

JOHN 10:18 NO MAN TAKES MY LIFE FROM ME I LAY IT DOWN MYSELF.

JOHN 19:34 A SOLDIER WITH A SPEAR PIERCED HIS SIDE.

Ever wonder why the Passover meal is a feast and what was brought out of it, the Lord’s Supper is kind of shall we say skimpy. One day the Lord’s enemies came and asked why everyone was fasting except His disciples.the Lord spoke of not fasting while the Bridegroom was with them but the time would come when the Bridegroom would be taken from them and they would fast that is the Lord’s Supper. We are fasting but there is so much more to the story.

the Lord said He was greatly desiring to eat the Passover that night. That isn’t surprising. What He spoke after that is stunning. The Lord said He would not eat of it again until it was fulfilled in heaven. If your like me you assumed the Passover was fulfilled by the Lord’s death but it wasn’t. When the Jewish man made his speech of what He would do for His bride he placed the cup before her and if she accepted she took the cup and drank. The groom was then engaged but it was like they were already married. The groom went to live in his fathers house preparing a place for his bride. When the father was satisfied the groom comes back for his bride. we are at the waiting for His return Part.

When we are taken out of here to heaven we will find that the fulfillment of Passover will be the Wedding Supper of the Lamb until then every time we eat and drink it is an act of faith declaring our belief in all He said and waiting for Him to return for us.

We are saved by God's grace through faith in Jesus Finished sin payment & resurrection. The sacraments themselves do not save us."

I'm not Catholic and I don't want to turn this thread into a debate on the Sacraments, but I just want to clarify how Catholics would respond on biblical grounds to your assertion that "the sacraments themselves do not save us." They would quote Jesus:

"My flesh is real food and my blood is real drink. Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood abides in me, and I in Him...Whoever eats me will live because of me (John 6:55-57)."

The underlined phrases are the basis for the Eucharistic doctrine of Real Presence. Catholics would ask why Jesus teaches that "whoever eats me will live," if believers are not saved through the sacraments. They would also ask why Jesus identifies the sacraments as the means by which Jesus comes to abide in us, and we in Him.

Catholics would not deny that we are saved by grace through faith, but would add that true believers accept baptism as a pledge of their faith in obedience to Christ's command to be baptized:

"Baptism now saves you, not as a removal of dirt from the body, but as a pledge to God from a good conscience (1 Peter 3:21)."

Catholics would also point out that the Great Commision identifies faith and baptism as Jesus' way of salvation:

"He who believes and is baptized will be saved (Mark 16:16)."

The sentence resembles this sentence about a cabin with no oil or electric heat:
"He who chops the wood for the fireplace and lights it will stay warm."
Again, Jesus assumes that if you believe in Him, you will obey His command to be baptized.

I've never heard anyone put it this way before in so much simplicity. Thank you for sharing this.

The Last Supper took place in the context of a Passover meal. It is the fulfillment of the old covenant of Moses in Exodus 24...

"Now as they were eating, Jesus took bread, and after blessing it broke it and gave it to the disciples, and said, 'Take, eat; this is my body.' And he took a cup, and when he had given thanks he gave it to them, saying, 'Drink of it, all of you, for this is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins.'" (Mt. 26:26-28)

"And as they were eating, he took bread, and after blessing it broke it and gave it to them, and said, 'Take; this is my body.' And he took a cup, and when he had given thanks he gave it to them, and they all drank of it. And he said to them, 'This is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many.'" (Mark 14:22-24)

"And he took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it and gave it to them, saying, 'This is my body, which is given for you. Do this in remembrance of me' And likewise the cup after they had eaten, saying, 'This cup that is poured out for you is the new covenant in my blood.'" (Luke 22:19-20)

It is at this moment when the new Moses, Jesus Christ, fulfills the type / figure of the old covenant of Moses in Exodus with the new reality of the Eucharistic sacrifice...

Exodus 24 (The figure) ---> The hill, the altar, the twelve, the blood, Moses, the covenant, the eating the drinking and communion with God ---> Points to the reality of the new now being fulfilled by Jesus Christ ---> The Upper Room, the altar, the twelve, the blood, the New Moses, the new covenant, the eating and drinking and communion with God.

The Last Supper took place in the context of a Passover meal. It is the fulfillment of the old covenant of Moses in Exodus 24..

13 They left and found things just as Jesus had told them. So they prepared the Passover.

14 When the hour came, Jesus and his apostles reclined at the table. 15 And he said to them, “I have eagerly desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer. 16 For I tell you, I will not eat it again until it finds fulfillment in the kingdom of God.”

17 After taking the cup, he gave thanks and said, “Take this and divide it among you. 18 For I tell you I will not drink again from the fruit of the vine until the kingdom of God comes.”

Hi, this passage from Luke shows the Lord saying that the Passover is not being fulfilled until it is fulfilled in heaven. There is only one meal that is still to come and that is the Wedding Supper of the Lamb there are no more Passover's in heaven but their is a wedding supper and that is the meal the Lord is looking to eat and fulfill His betrothal He entered into in an upper He is coming back to get His Bride and take to the place He prepared in the Father's house just like it happens in a Jewish Wedding. room about 2,000 years ago.

I like how Jesus said "I am the Bread of Life" and how He is the Living Word. If we ingest the Living Word (reading Bible) into our spirit as is demonstrated by eating the bread offered at communion, then we share both spiritually and physically the Bread of Life. As we drink the wine at communion, we acknowledge the new Blood Covenant shed by His sacrifice that allows us gentiles access to His Kingdom which would've been near impossible previously.

Question: Are you a believer? Are you sickly or feeling ill? Have you been partaking in Communion REGULARLY?

Question 2: If you had were hungry & close starvation, would 1 meal completly restore your health?
I take communion every 3/4 weeks at my church, communion does not guarantee good health, but lifestyle does.
I believe 1 meal would restore health but not 100%, it for a time would satisfy the body for a short time. It depends on how long the person has gone without food.
