Lost my job.

I just got canned on Saterday for carrying a bear banger device while on my security shift. (the device is legal, small, they are sold everyware down here, Later on i discoverd that this company has a reputation of unjustly firing people a few weeks before i came here they fired a young woman for forgetting to lock a cabneit.) They gave me 24 hours to vacte and left me on the street with no place to sleep. Luckily i found a church near hear that is allowing me to crash there at night. The fireing was completly unjust and petty, however this is the reality of Jasper Alberta, This town takes people chews them up then spits them out.

Things are not all bad though, I got a interview tomorrow in a town 100kms north. The town is bigger and has many dog friendly apartments, God willing i could be moved in next week.

i will be praying for you and perhaps this was the Lord's will in that the interview tomorrow will be a better job! maybe that first job was to get you out there where God wanted you and now it's already time to move on.

Someone should get on this company's case. Looks like they need to be pulled into line.

You can go after the company here (in the U.S.) but it takes a lot of money out of pocket + the burden of proof that they canned you for no "performance" related issues is very tough from what I hear.

Whatever the case, I hope you keep the Peace which you seem to have.

I googled "Bear Banger". Looks like it just makes a loud noise, right?

Rocky Mountain House teen killed by small projectile

A Grade 11 student from Rocky Mountain House was killed Monday after being shot with a device used to scare off bears.

RCMP say the teen was shot by a bear banger inside a vehicle just after 4 p.m. Classmates have identified the teen as 16-year-old Tanner Mayer, a student at West Central High School.

"It's an extremely tough way to start off the year," said Brian Celli, superintendent with the Wild Rose School Division.

Police said two teens were outside a home, when one of them picked up what appeared to be an ordinary pen but it was capable of firing various forms of projectiles. Police said the object was a bear banger, which is used to scare bears away.

"The device went off, one youth was hit and he succumbed to his injuries," said Sgt. Chris Matechuk with Rocky Mountain RCMP.

The teen was taken to hospital where he later died.

Ross McGeachy, a back country expert told CTV News bear angers can be extremely dangerous when shot at close range.

"In the wrong setting it could do serious injury. Certainly it is an explosive device and it has a high velocity when it's launched," he said.

The device can travel about 30 metres when fired and are mostly sold in most camping equipment stores.

An autopsy has been scheduled for Wednesday in Calgary. Police hope it will provide them with an exact cause of death and a positive identification of the victim.

Police have not laid any charges at this point.



I found this article when I "googled" bear banger. I found several other articles as well. Apparently, these can be dangerous weapons when fired at close range.

Maybe you weren't aware of the restriction against carrying such a weapon. I guess my first question would be - Why would you feel the need to carry it to work?

I will be praying that this interview works out well for you. But, be careful next time. Leave the weapons at home. And pray that the company you are trying for doesn't hear the story of why you were dismissed.

The Lord will take of his own, so don't worry. Meanwhile, from the things you described, it sounds like a cheap employer. They seem to wallow in the joy of finding fault with people, fire them and ruin their reputation. I guess it's because they have to show their power trying to control or ruin other people's lives to convince themselves that they are someone. Rest assured, in about 5 years from now, the building that houses your cheap employer will probably be a McDonald's or some other chain store. Those types never last long, but everything's everyone else's fault in their opinion. We always want to put our best face forward to get hired, but I often ask myself "What about employers?" Some are just as derelict (if not more so) as the employees they claim they have. What can I say? Those types will be here today, gone tomorrow. I'll wager my bank account on it. Then you'll get the joy of one day watching their demise. But don't pity them; they probably brought it on themselves.
