Malachi 3:1 The Coming of Yahweh

“Behold I sending messenger of Me and he will prepare Way before Me, and suddenly He will Come to temple of Him the Lord, Whom you seeking, and the Messenger of the Covenant, Whom you delighted behold Coming says Yahweh of Hosts” (Literal English from the Hebrew)

It is very clear from this passage in Malachi, which is a Prophecy of the Coming of Yahweh, as Spoken by Yahweh Himself.

The first “mălʼâk”, messenger, is none other than John the Baptist. As we read in Mark 1:1-4

“The beginning of the Good News of Jesus Christ, the Son of God. As it is written in the prophets, “Behold, I send my messenger before your face, who will prepare your way before you: the voice of one crying in the wilderness, ‘Make ready the way of the Lord! Make his paths straight!’” John came baptizing in the wilderness and preaching the baptism of repentance for forgiveness of sins”

The citation in this passage in Mark, is from two Prophecies in the Old Testament, on the Great Coming of Yahweh. The first is from the passage in Malachi 3:1, and the second, from Isaiah 40:3-5:

“The voice of one who calls out, “Prepare the way of Yahweh in the wilderness! Make a level highway in the desert for our God. Every valley shall be exalted, and every mountain and hill shall be made low. The uneven shall be made level, and the rough places a plain. Yahweh’s glory shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together; for the mouth of Yahweh has spoken it.”

In both passages, we have The Speaker as Yahweh Himself, Who Speaks of His own Coming.

The second “mălʼâk”, we have in Malachi 3:1, is “The Messenger of the Covenant”, Who is also “The Lord (hā·’ā·ḏō·wn)”, Jesus Christ.

The Way prepared by John the Baptist, is for the Coming of Yahweh Himself, Who is none other than the Lord Jesus Christ. The Four Gospel Accounts are very clear, that the passage in Isaiah, is fulfilled in the First Coming of the Lord Jesus Christ, which is also The Coming of ʼĕlôhîym.

It is abundantly clear from the actual Testimony of Scripture, that The Coming of Jesus Christ, is the fulfilment of Old Testament Prophecy, for The Coming of Yahweh.

It is beyond comprehension, how some would argue, that Jesus Christ is in any way “inferior” to God the Father, and not Almighty God? The Testimony from the very Word of God, in the Holy Bible, clearly Teaches, that God the Son, Himself Yahweh, was the Person Who Came, Who was Born of the Virgin Mary.

There is not a single verse in the entire 66 Books of the Holy Bible, that says, God the Father ever came to earth!

Both passages of Prophecy in the Old Testament, are literally fulfilled in The Coming of The Lord Jesus Christ.

We have in Malachi and Isaiah, Jesus Christ as referred to as Yahweh and ʼĕlôhîym, which is impossible to be used for a created person, or anyone who is not Almighty God. The Name Yahweh means the Uncreated, Eternal, Self-Existing, Creator God.

Anyone who will still believe in the heresy, that Jesus Christ is a created person, and not coequal with God the Father, especially when the Bible Teaches that He is, has been deceived by the father of lies, the devil!

No other conclusion can be arrived at, from the Testimony of Scripture, as we see, that Jesus Christ is indeed Himself, YHWH, and therefore 100% COEQUAL with God the Father, in the Eternal Godhead.

Sola scriptura please help me with a question?

The Bible is our sole authority, so how do we know from the Bible what is included and what is excluded from the Bible? Thanks

I agree on the divinity of Christ! Jn 14:6 only God can be the way the truth and the life!

The Old Testament consists of 39 Books in the so called Protestant Canon; as opposed to the 46 books in the Roman Catholic and so called Orthodox church, who have additions taken from the Greek Old Testament, known as the LXX, which were also absent in the earlier editions of the LXX. The Books of the Protestant Canon, are exactly the same as the Jewish Old Testament Canon, which was used at the close of BC, and during the Life of Jesus Christ on earth. Even though the Jewish OT is 22 or 24 Books, they are the same as the 39, just divided differently. The testimony of the very early Jewish scholars, like Philo and Josephus, as well as other historical documents, attest to the Books as no more than the 39, as found in Versions like the King James, etc. The OT Canon is believed to have been under the Prophet Ezra.

For the Books of the New Testament, I believe that all agree on the 27, which was agreed by the early Church, as found in the Easter Letter of the Church Father, Athanasius, dated 367 A.D. Where we read:

"Again, it is not tedious to speak of the books of the New Testament. These are: the four Gospels, according to Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. After these, The Acts of the Apostles, and the seven epistles called Catholic: of James, one; of Peter, two, of John, three; after these, one of Jude. In addition, there are fourteen epistles of Paul the apostle, written in this order: the first, to the Romans; then, two to the Corinthians; after these, to the Galatians; next, to the Ephesians, then, to the Philippians; then, to the Colossians; after these, two of the Thessalonians; and that to the Hebrews; and again, two to Timothy; one to Titus; and lastly, that to Philemon. And besides, the Revelation of John" (From his Thirty-Ninth Festal Epistle, section V)

These Books of the New Testament were finally accepted as the only Inspired by God the Holy Spirit, after years of much debate on what Books should be in the New Testament.

The books rejected for both the Old and New Testament, by the Jews and then the Christian Church, are known as "Apocryphal", as not being part of either "Canon".

Thanks

Do you then reject the “Bible alone” as our sole authority and accept the doctrine of the apostles acts 2:42 or the teaching authority of Christ in his church thru the apostles?

The 66 Books in the Holy Bible, is the ONLY Inspired Word of God to the human race, and therefore the SOLE Authority of what God Teaches us humans. Any additional teachings, like "Church traditions" as in the RCC, are that by mere humans, and only IF they agree with what the Bible Teaches, can they be accepted, otherwise must be rejected.

One example is the RCC teaching on Purgatory, which is not found anywhere in the accepted Books of either the Old or New Testaments, but is seen in Apocryphal books of the OT, like Maccabees, etc.

Jesus in His Account of the Rich Man and Lazarus, found in Luke chapter 16, is clear that Purgatory does not exist, and an invention of humans!

What is the pillar and ground of truth?

What is the rule of faith or source of truth?

Christ and His church with the teaching authority of the apostles or the Bible alone?

I would like to continue to discuss this very important Doctrine, but please start another thread for this, as we are way off topic on this thread. thanks

If the Bible is the only authority?why are you trusting in the tradition of men who decided it was only 66 books, the men of king James and the English Bible society deleted book and some chapters like Dan 13 & 14 from scripture by what authority I can’t even guess?

What is the pillar and ground of truth?
The pillar is God in whom gave Jesus to speak and do as in His will. Truth only comes by the Holy Spirit that will teach us all things and bring those things back to our remembrance, John 14:25-26.

1John 2:27 But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him.

We are not to believe every doctrine that comes down the pike, but to make sure what others are teaching lines up with scripture as there are many false teachers that have gone out into the world.

There is NO canon in all of Church history which matches the Protestant 66-book canon. It was completely made up by the Protestants.

It is novel.

1 Timothy 3:16 the church of the living God is the true body of Christ with He being the head of the body. It's the living God that is the pillar and the ground of truth through His Holy Spirit, not the people.

The Apostles are not the light of the world, nor is any man as only Jesus is that light that needs to be shining through us that others will see Christ in us, John 1:1-14. John 16:4-13 is all the work of the Holy Spirit that works in us and through us to speak all truths. Matthew 28:19 is also the commision given to all of us that God has called to take the Gospel message out into the world. It did not end with just the Apostles.

The church, being the body of Christ, are one in the Spirit as Christ being the head of the body, Colossians 1:15-23. I see nowhere in Acts 9:4 or Ephesians 5:32 saying the church and Christ are one.

Just like the Apostles all who are in Christ and He in them have the same commission as we take the word of God out into the world in all truths given us by the Holy Spirit.
