That's a powerful insight. Impressive. I can't help thinking you are right. Those who get a bad deal here, get a much better deal in the next life....they need to learn humility as they will have great authority under Jesus in the life yet to come. Possibility?
As my agnostic wife keeps saying "but God's only interested in the chosen few, isn't he?"well... Matthew 20:16
also tells us that '...many are called but few are -chosen- ,' which...scares me, more than a little bit.
As they say, the lord works in mysterious ways. Who knows what's in store for us? I pray and hope it will be glorious!Problem being for me that someone who is getting a very good deal in this life, (me), will have to suffer in the next life. The first shall be last.
well... Matthew 20:16

Sounds like what you're saying is that God creates some to be eternally damned and some to be eternally with Him in heaven. I don't know if I agree with that.Problem being for me that someone who is getting a very good deal in this life, (me), will have to suffer in the next life. The first shall be last.
Isn't God interested in everyone? Seems like it. Scripture tells us that God wants all to be saved, right? As my agnostic wife keeps saying "but God's only interested in the chosen few, isn't he?"
Aren't the chosen the ones who respond to the gospel? I don't believe God typically arbitrarily chooses some for salvation and the rest for damnation.well... Matthew 20:16

I don't think any of us are capable. That's why we need a savior.I suppose only a few can truly live like Christ.

What I know about Calvinism could be placed on the head of a pin. But if I understand correctly, I struggle with his understanding of what it means to be chosen. I believe we all have the opportunity to accept or deny the gospel and God let's us make that choice. It is precisely because of this that I believe we so desperately need a savior.ok. from my background, growing up liberal Presby, then veering into more traditional Calvinism, I can tell you...
the 'invisible church' is comprised of those who are part of The Elect, and they eventually heed (because God gives them the grace to do so..) the call to genuine salvation. the 'visible church' is compromised of both the wheat -and- the tares, per Scripture.
I completely agree WIPWhat I know about Calvinism could be placed on the head of a pin. But if I understand correctly, I struggle with his understanding of what it means to be chosen. It is God who is going to do the judging not us. I am very thankful for that. The judging will be done for each person. If I go to hell I must deserve it because God is just. If I don't go to hell it is because of Jesus sacrifice and God's mercy.
This is not true. In 1982, God restored me and then asked me to reach out to the agnostics in this world. He did not require me to bring them to Christ because, while that would save them, his primary goal was to help them with their addictions so they could celebrate life. I started a group that now has 7,000 members who have all been helped by God through me. I make it clear that I am just a channel so they know the source of my healing and theirs. In 2015 the Holy Spirit introduced me to Christ and now I am on a new mission to help addicts who have been wounded by religion find their personal savior in Christ. I have started an AA meeting for Christians. It is open to all seekers. All of this is because cared about more people than just the chosen ones. They are actually a minority of the people he loves. As my agnostic wife keeps saying "but God's only interested in the chosen few, isn't he?"
