So upstairs they have the poison out in a little square in the corner of the kitchen. And my dog likes to go up there sometimes. Luckily he ignores it, but GEEZ.
My cat would be all over that if he was up there, he gets into everything.

I must have posted this in another string but there is a fool proof trap that, also, keeps the smell of death from permeating from the attic or the walls. Take a standard Mouse Trap made of wood with a steel hoop and a spring catch/release mechanism, likely still under two dollars and completely reloadable and set if with cheese, carrot, french fry or any bait of your choice.

Then, holding the loop, so as not to try breaking your fingers, smear the oil from a previously opened can of Sardines that are canned in oil and dip the end of your finger and smear it on the loop and all of the Release Mechanism to hide the scent of the steel and the human scent.

Hopefully you tied, with Sewing Thread, the bait onto the Release/Bait Holding Mechanism and place it anywhere the kids, the dog and/or the cat cannot get to it. In the morning, throw on mouse into the Outside Trash Can and reload and replace the trap until no mice are trapped for about a week. The Sardine oil has always worked for me, everywhere I have been.

Many years ago I had 1 pet mouse, then decided it needed a friend so had 2 mice, then I suddenly had 8 mice, then I had 46 mice, then my parents commanded me the mice must go.

Okay, so this morning I wake up to find two big blood stains on the carpet. With a lot of what I guess must have been guts.

I guess my cat killed something? And if one of those mice from upstairs wandered down here, I only hope that it wasn't poisoned. Oreo seems fine, and lively--was waking my brother up to ask for breakfast like always. My mom said she did clean up some diarrhea. (Which could have been from the dog.)

If that cat starts to walk around real slow, get him or her to the vet. I takes a couple days or more for the blood thinning poison to work.

IF youi think a dog has been poisoned feeding it peroxide makes them throw up ..
our 80 pound dog grabbed some rat poison. that dropped at my feet... .. a stick about the size of a butter cube..
i called the vet... feed her about 3 tablespoons of peroxide ... soaked up the peroxide in sandies cookies... she gobbled them up .. took her out side to make her run and jump around.. it causes the peroxide to foam which made her throwup.. up came most of the 'butter stick' ... she was fine...
I dont know if the same can be done for a cat...

If you can grind up charcoal, very fine and get, guessing, a quarter tap down it will filter and retain the poison.

That is my number one reason for loving tyhe old fashioned Mouse Trap. They have never killed a one of my pets.

There's no way of knowing if the mouse my cat ate was poisoned or not. They claim they haven't been touching any of the poison up there. But if one of the mice wandered down here when none of the others have, to me that says it might have been poisoned.

I don't even know if it was a mouse he ate. But I don't know what else it would have been. (And of course as soon as I mentioned it might have been a mouse, they began talking about setting the cat loose up there again. I don't know, if the cat is going to leave a mess like that every time he eats, I think it'd be better to rely on mousetraps anyway.)

I explained to Lewis that the old fashioned mouse Traps, small flat board with a spring powered steel loop, baited with any bait, Peanut butter is the best, and smear sardine oil on the metal and you have a guarenteed killer. And because you don't see the the mice... does not mean they are staying in the attic, that is just lying to yourself and they are diseased little wretches.

Well, called an emergency vet. They just said to look out for vomiting and lethargy.
If I do need to go to the emergency vet I won't have any money to pay because the bank is closed and I don't think I can get money out of savings through the ATM. This will sound dumb, but I don't know what an ATM card is and don't have one. Yes, I have used the ATM before.

It's an emergency vet. Tell them you'll pay when a bank is open to get money.
