Thanks,You're not alone. those issue are being looked into.
It does. It's time for a revisit I think. Thanks for the reminder.Code writings and adjustments to any forum platform are expensive and time consuming.
I'd offer up the salary I received to date as a moderator to add to the pot for fixing everything and making it all pristine and smooth running but we would not be any closer to the financial requirements needed to hire someone as we are currently.
This site operates at a loss without advertisement as an offering to God. Any monies he(the owner) has received go directly to this site.
But the owner's pockets do have a bottom. He has limited funds to work with and he has just dumped a lot of money into this site. I'd dare say that he is a bit lean at the moment to pour a lot more into the site at the moment.
But you could help him... Everyone knows where the donate button is. (I'm hoping that it still works)

Well if you really want to know then do some research about prices for software platforms, prices for web hosting (approx 10-15 gig bandwidth) and then the cost of hiring programmers...If people knew the true cost of things people would know what to chip in if they can and willingly want too and people can come together, but finances are always hiden, so they either get too much or not enough, it goes in general just like a church as well.
A church either struggles or the Pastors driving a bentley.
Personal finances are understandable, but if its community it should be semi open on the basics of the finances so people don't come to a site or go to church and see the door closed saying we couldn't afford to run it where if they people knew they most probably would have kept the doors opened. So its either personal or community.
If i went to a mega church I wouldn't donate a cent because the Pastor is rich, if i went to church in a tin shed that leaked when it rains, I would give my full wage.

Then you can ignore your heart and apply some kind of man made system of logic to it all.
I've been as transparent as possible without giving you the owner's checkbook balance. (Which I don't know and really don't care to)Man made system logic is letting people know what's going on. They dont need to know every detail, if its community then why not say we would like to move platforms and this will cost x amount and have a target people know where there all at and when the goal is reached. Its just involiving everyone and hiding things.
It never has to be about knowing every detail.
And you say I need logic?, the site says there moving platforms, someone questions some functions are not working property, and the reply was we are trying to fix it but its expensive and time consuming.
I tell you the truth, if I knew before hand the site needed to move platforms for specific reasons and couldn't afford it, I would have helped pay for it.

The man has graciously offered to allow others to share in the cost of this ministry so that others can take part.
You can either accept his offer with a prudent gift or not.
At a guess I'm thinking that a couple of thousand dollars (US) ought to fix things up for a while.

I migrated the site from vBullitin to xenforo and then to another host, and then back to gator at no cost to the owner.Code writings and adjustments to any forum platform are expensive and time consuming.

Yes it does. He had adds in vBullitin and when I moved us to Xenforo, I asked him to trust the site with only a donate now button. He agreed and it worked. And yes, because I had access to the database, I knew exactly what he was bringing in, and I knew exactly what his costs were.Zero ads matters
Nothing is free. This site isn't free. It cost money to run it, and without money to pay the monthly hosting fee, the site goes down. Same thing for the domain name, and the software subscription.True, the advertising system is perverted through its greed.
Yeah, he is certainly open and yes, let's the community run this. I only have good things to say about him. Thanks for all that insight, Jeff. As you know, we have no horse in the race except that we use the site like any other member. I have no reason to defend what he does with his site. But you and I spoke to him on the phone a few times. You, likely more. We've heard what this site means to him and his vision for what it could be.
But he's always left this to the volunteers and the community. For better or worse, he leaves it to "we the people" to be what CFnet is.
How many times have we said that or even that we would call each other on our drives home. I feel bad that we haven't, but you have my number too! :yesIf your ever near Warren about lunch, give me a call and we'll do some Thai, or I know of a really good Iraqi joint near Ryan and 15.

If your not donating, you should stop and think for a moment what this site means to you. In short, don't be a free loader if you call this place your home on the net.
