More Atheists Shout It From the Rooftops

I don't mind "settling" for the Bible as evidence of Jesus as the Messiah. :)

Just for the record I do not want to take Christ away from anyone. I have to ask is there at least one of you who can agree that I have about as much of an argument for Jesus being God as I do for Siddhartha/Buddha being a God?

My I ask animal, when you were a child, did you ever ask Jesus into your heart???

Every night during my prayers. For some reason I thought I was supposed to. Got baptised in '93.

May I ask who are the other "god's" you are speaking about? I tried to look him up on the internet, but I really couldn't figure him out. It seems there was a chieftains wise son, who went away and came back talking about a life called the middle way .

To tell you the truth I didn't want to spend much time there (it kind of feels like a waste of time) but anyway I really couldn't find why he is considered a god and not just really wise man. (teehee, from the east).

What is his claim to fame? Did he die for the sins of his followers? Did he do mighty miracles that were witnessed by thousands? Did any of these witnesses to miracles ever get boiled in oil, because they wouldn't deny him.

I'm just curious???

Love, Kelli

You mean Buddha? He is only considered a wise teacher by pretty much all Buddhists. I couldn't find anything (didn't look very hard honestly) but I've read that some groups do worship the man as a deity. And I have one book in particular (terrible) that goes on and on about ridiculous legend as if it's true.

I could talk about the other Gods in history who have been born of a virgin, healed the blind and sick, etc, just like Jesus but my point is Buddha (Siddhartha Gautama) was a self proclaimed normal human being. These stories are completely fabricated and I believe it's no different for Jesus.

animal, I know you're just giving your opinion, but statements like these are considered as blasphemous and offensive to Christians. Sorry, I just had to say that. :(

Because we disagree? Because it promotes critical thinking? I don't see what's wrong with that.

Christians should be proud of their ability to support their convictions and even shrug off any naysayers.

No, animal (and I'm saying this with love) because I sincerely can't stand silent when my Savior's Lordship is being denied. I can shrug off many things, but not that.

I'd never expect you to stand silent. I'd prefer the exact opposite.

It doesn't really make me feel bad for Jesus, when you say He isn't God... He is God, He can defend Himself. But it makes me feel really sad for you, and to tell you the truth, very scared for you. I am 52 years old, and yesterday I was 20, no... seriously that's how it feels. This is such a short little time we have on earth. If your right and there is no God. What will happen to me when I die?

The same thing that happens when squirrels, chimpanzees, and trees die.

I've always said life is just long enough to make it an amazing one.

And I never said he isn't God. I said I have no good reason to believe he's God. And it doesn't diminish his character in any way.

Animal he says he knows and loves you. :yes

Well, I guess that doesn't sound so bad. I die I'm buried, and I live on in the hearts of my loved ones. Okay, so I know you have heard this before, If I'm right about Jesus and your wrong, what happens to you when you die? I don't think I have to refrence a scripture here, you've said you have had your nose in the Bible for the last fifteen years. You better make darn sure your right.

None of the other "god's" you talk about. (although you haven't produced any info on them) can claim to have died for their followers. There is no empty tomb. there are no martyred witnesses. I guess if you have had your "nose in the Bible for the last fifteen years" then you probably haven't been chosen by Christ.

John 15:15-17 (New King James Version)
15 No longer do I call you servants, for a servant does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all things that I heard from My Father I have made known to you. 16 You did not choose Me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit, and that your fruit should remain, that whatever you ask the Father in My name He may give you. 17 These things I command you, that you love one another.

If you read about when Nicodemus was talking to Jesus in John 3, it says "it is required once for a man to be born of the water (womb) and to be born again by the Spirit, and those who have not been born of the Spirit can not understand the things of the Spirit. That's why you can't understand what we are talking about.

I'm sorry but you haven't been chosen, and if you haven't been chosen you will never understand, because you are reading somebody elses mail.

Love, Kelli

Dear sweet Kelli, do you really think this is true? How are we to know whether someone is chosen? I believe that as long as one is alive, he still has time (though we never know how much time!). There are countless stories of people who have spent their whole lives rejecting Christ and then came to know Him and were saved. Look at Saul/Paul, persecutor of Christians! Who would have ever believed, while he was persecuting Christians, that he too was chosen?

It was a joke man, you trying to start something that it is not ?

If it was a joke, then it is not one done in wisdom. It has the possibility of generating animosity towards Christianity.

I started playing around with that same picture about 4 years ago, and you are the first one to have a problem with it, and i mean the first one. So if it bothers you, you don't have to look at it, or you can PM me about it.
