My Pet Peeve

I think it's about time we seen something like that from D.C.

It reminds me of what the Pharisees did in the New Testament.

The pic above is just one example. I'm not a fan of people putting on big, public, productions in which they proclaim to the world their devotion to Christ.

I think that's the same picture from Trumps early days. I don't think it was a big public production. Just a handful of Pastors who wanted to go to D.C. and pray with the President and lay hands on him. So they did. And the word on the street is that Trump received a Visitation after this meeting where the Lord told Trump, you're my man.

With the shape the country is in right now, that picture is like a breath of fresh air to me. When I see that photo, I don't see the Pharisees doing a look at me thing. I see Godly minded children of Christ trying to help their nation. Praying over the President of the United States? Amen Brother!

Those are not stage props Brother. That's spiritual warfare going on, wherein we are all spiritual warriors and more than conquerors in Christ. That's the real deal there Brother.

I very much dislike scenes like the one below, where former President Trump is surrounded by preachers.

Matthew 6:6 ESV

But when you pray, go into your room and shut the door and pray to your Father who is in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you.

Are you certain you are not making some assumptions about this? You don't really know the motivation here. It could be for show but it could also be genuine.

I can attest to the power of prayer and laying on of hands in this way. I have been part of a local Men's gospel choir made of of about 40-50 local farmers, businessmen, and family men. We gathered once a month to sing songs and give glory to God. Eleven years ago, our director/organizer was diagnosed with brain cancer. The tumor was the size of a baseball and his prognosis was four to six weeks. The next time we got together and he told us about it, we all gathered around him, laid hands on him, and prayed for courage, strength, and healing for him. Over the course of the next several months and to the surprise of his doctors his tumor began to shrink and he eventually went into submission. He used this situation as an opportunity to share the gospel with others and we were granted 10 more years of his presence with us. About two years ago, a second tumor began to develop and they tried some kind of laser surgery. The result of that surgery left him paralyzed on his left side but that didn't seem to hinder his sharing of the gospel. He passed a month ago but he left a legacy of caring and love.

Thank you helping make my point.

That's why scripture tells us to pray unceasingly, because our greatest accomplishments for the Lord that we will do...will be done in prayer.

The Scripture you quoted from Matthew 6 is not a command to never pray in public. What Jesus is talking about is the motivation. Consider Matthew 6 from the beginning of the chapter to understand the whole text.

“Beware of practicing your righteousness before other people in order to be seen by them, for then you will have no reward from your Father who is in heaven. “Thus, when you give to the needy, sound no trumpet before you, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may be praised by others. Truly, I say to you, they have received their reward. But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, so that your giving may be in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you. “And when you pray, you must not be like the hypocrites. For they love to stand and pray in the synagogues and at the street corners, that they may be seen by others. Truly, I say to you, they have received their reward. But when you pray, go into your room and shut the door and pray to your Father who is in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you. “And when you pray, do not heap up empty phrases as the Gentiles do,...."

Maybe it was impromptu? We don't know.

We are also instructed not to judge. This is also found in Jesus' Sermon on the Mount.

“Judge not, that you be not judged. For with the judgment you pronounce you will be judged, and with the measure you use it will be measured to you. Why do you see the speck that is in your brother's eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye? Or how can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when there is the log in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother's eye."
Matthew 7:1-5 ESV

if I may ,if the president was married by the nearest minister to a man .y'all would judge him in sin and pray.

personally I'm highly skeptical trump believes.no one builds a statue of himself In gold at mar a lago and is humble by God .
imho.
nevermind that Paula white

I also am weary of politicians using Christ to get my vote and do controversial things

Public display of prayer like this is not about big public productions, nor has anything to do with how the Pharisees liked to be seen for their much prayers. These are Pastors praying for our former president as in not being ashamed to pray in a public place, but to pray God use this man in leading our nation.

Luke 9:26 For whosoever shall be ashamed of me and of my words, of him shall the Son of man be ashamed, when he shall come in his own glory, and in his Father's, and of the holy angels.
Luke 9:27 But I tell you of a truth, there be some standing here, which shall not taste of death, till they see the kingdom of God.

I think Trump should have forbidden the photographers and kept it a private event.
I see it as a beautiful picture of having faith in God. We so need these types of Pastors in our government, especially with what we are all about to face soon as in the destruction of America that will come to pass.

My pet peeve is that the church is dying and we need a hugh Spiritual revival in our nation.

people do things to help but its not in the right heart ,don't dismiss the idea of those that prayer with pretense ,and give and want their name honored .

should a church name a room or building for the person who donated the most to build it ?

my pastor and elders wouldn't allow it

let God only be glorified in his works .the church has to much I theology versus His theology ,if you doubt just listen to modern worship music

I will love forever ,I promise ,I do this or that .we can't make a promise like that fulfill .notice God promised land for Israel and made the pledge himself ,Abraham didn't walk through the animal carcass

How long has it been sine this country saw one of it's Presidents bow their head to the Lord?! I like it.
amen - his faith is real and he is not embarrassed to show his faith - kinda like the early believers - they weren't ashamed either - faith was real life for them - as should it be for believers today
