New here

Hi my names Dan and I'm a 19 year old student from England.

I was brought up by a vaguely religious family and attended a (fairly High Church) Church of England church fairly reguarly as I was growing up - I was baptised as a baby and confirmed when I was 11.

Since I've started university I've been quite active in the Christian Union and have become quite open minded about which churches I attend - I'm really not sure whether I prefer more ritualistic services or more evangelical ones. I genuinely believe in God and consider myself to be a true believing Christian, but I am far from perfect and have a lot of flaws.

Hi, Dan... welcome to CFnet :wave

Oh, no! You have flaws & are far from perfect??????

Join the crowd, my friend! It is through our daily walk with our Lord where those flaws start to fade away, one by one by one. And while we'll never achieve perfection on this earth, the more we mature in our faith, the closer we can become to perfect.

It's wonderful to have you with us, Dan ... hope you enjoy your time here !

Hi Super Dan1,

Welcome to the site. Because you have flaws and are far from perfect, I don't know if you're a Christian or not. lol. Sorry, I'm trying to be funny perhaps where I shouldn't be. Our God, Jesus, is very good and has acted perfect on our behalf. I hope you will be built up in the Christian faith here.

Hi Super Dan:

How are you doing? good to see you here; God bless His Word to you.

The point is not whether a person has been sprinkled as a baby in this or that church, but rather whether as a repentant sinner s/he has believed in the Lord Jesus Christ. I hope these forum discussions, particularly those about the Scriptures, will be a blessing to you. John's gospel is a great place to concentrate on reading, especially the first three chapters.

(Years ago, over the Pond where you are, it was customary for the non-evangelical student Christian groups to be affiliated with the Student Christian Movement; and the more doctrinally based groups which treated Scripture as authoritative above experience, reason and tradition, tended to be Christian Unions that were UCCF-linked. With the rise in a strong emphasis on experience, and a decline in doctrinal emphasis, those who might years ago have met in separate groups now tend to meet all together, it seems. I hope you can find clarity and help in these Bible based discussions.)
