New Music

questdriven:

Since they're 'mainstream alternative rock', you might like them but maybe you'll find they might not be quite hard rock enough for you.

Blessings.

Nope, not these bands. They are a bit lighter, but they have a great sound. For a more hard rock style you could also try Shinedown.

If I'm remembering what I was told correctly, yes.

Okay. I guess for you whether you'll like it would also depend as well a bit on whether it's hard rock enough.

At least, to some extent, I suppose.

For myself, I'm not sure if I identify myself with one genre of music above all others, but this is just me.

Blessings.

Well, I listen to other genres. Owl City is one of my top favorite bands, and they definitely aren't hard rock. (My top favorites other than Owl City are Casting Crowns, Red, and Skillet.)

If I remember correctly P.O.D. was actually from the 90s, and they're heavy metal. Listened to one song by them and it sounded a lot like Disciple's songs.

Well, this is interesting. My last comment, BTW, was probably a bit overstated, actually.

The heavy metal you really like has been around quite a long time, now, hasn't it? and I think it was inevitable that, as with hard rock, Christian musical artists would be influenced by it.

Blessings.

I vaguely remember POD as being rap metal. Skillet is stil around. Personally, I like music that is on the punk, psychodelic and funk side.
Maybe that Is why I liked Kings X. THeir first albums were based on CS Lewis like Out of the Silent Planet.
Breakfast with Amy, DAD, was really in that groove The lyrics were innocuous with a wry sence of humor. SEa Shanty of an Islandic Midwife was too far out for me and I suspect that it was written by Michael Knott.
I used to suscribe to Heavenly Metal magazine which was a great source. BUt I can't afford to keep up now. MY grandson is always looking for new things. BUt like his dad, he doesn't like my wierd stuff.

Carolyn:

Ma'm, you are the future; or, stated differently, there are likely to be serene Christian grandmothers in many years' time who, like you, are into Christian heavy metal.

So it's about time the Fundie preachers who keep talking about music styles as if what they like is what everyone else ought to like, stopped imposing their opinions on their longsuffering congregations (and instead concentrated on preaching the Gospel, in which case I would say a hearty Amen to them! :) )

I think some folk on here, such as questdriven, and others, maybe, are being given a hard time in this way, simply because they like the sort of music which you also like, as it happens.

Blessings.

One of the pioneers in C hrisrian rock was Larry Norman. He wrote "why should the devil have all the good music". AMEN!
