No Hot Water

solar water heaters. I grew up on water from a lake, but given what I know about well water. I prefer not to drink it. at least not in florida. they are only 300 ft deep at the most, unless its artesian.

gas is high because of other issues and the higher the cng price is the higher it will cost to make electricity, that and nuke and cng and coal plants are paid for by the user.

We used to have a cabin in the woods. Years ago (in the 1970's) my dad was into solar electricity and also solar heated water using a therm-syphoning principle. To test it, he connected the input directly to the output without a tank and just left a small amount of water circulating in the pipes only. We went for a bike ride while my mom took a nap. When we returned she said there were noises outside coming from the heater. My dad removed the hose and hot steam shot out and burned him a little --- that much energy from the sun in that short of time!

I only drink bottled water and I am fussy about what kind I drink.

Yes it is. Do you notice the wires coming out of the wall and into the shower head? My wife says people have gotten shocked by them malfunctioning.

Yes,I could see that. Not the safest setup. But is that their concern there?

The reason they have them is because of the cost of having the type most people have here. It cost too much, but you never run out of hot water because it is heated as it flows through the shower head. Since it works in this way, the water pressure is very weak.

Are they just happy to have a hot shower?

Yes, I believe so. There are a lot of things we have here that most people don't have there. Like dishwashers, laundry machine and dryer, toilets that you can flush the toilet paper down in..to name a few. It is a much simpler life, which has it's advantages. When my in-laws come visit here my mother in law uses the laundry machine but hang dry's everything in our back yard, lol. She doesn't like to use the dishwasher, opens the windows in our house if it gets hot because there is no air condition in Brazil (except for some public buildings like a court house).

I posted on here before that I worked with a lady from Africa. She had not been in the US that long. Her accent was so thick that it was hard to understand her.She ended up leaving from frustation. She said that the people in the US are spoiled. She named a bunch of stuff that we take for granted here that they do not have.

I think a lot of people are spoiled compared to 3rd world countries. I don't think my in-laws could adjust to living here permanently. I think there is something rewarding about doing things the simpler way even if it means more work. I find this a very interesting topic since I have spent a lot of time in Brazil and seen the advantages of living in a culture with less "stuff". However, I think I will leave it at that before I start getting off the hot water topic.

Wow, did you grow up next door to Granny Clampet??? :biggrin2
Three years in the Ozarks of Arkansas living in an old Butterfield Overland Express stage stop located on 120 acres abutting a National Forest. Attended a Little House on the Prairie type school with students from 1st through 6th grades. Barefoot was in fashion. I wonder how we lived through it ???? :)

I am thinking they really appreciate what they have.

speaking of adjusting to our way of life;
when I was doing maintenance in apartment complex I had a couple from Africa with a small baby living in one of the apartments. the man would get up shower and he turned off the facet and left the divert-er valve open; then after he had left his wife would get up and try to bathe the baby and the water would come from the shower not the facet cause the husband just turned off facet. she turned in ticket to repair and I went to repair no one home I checked all worked fine
after 3 work orders we ask for someone to be home to repair. It turned out she had no Idea what or how to divert the water between the facet and shower. So yes people do have a hard time adjusting.

What usually causes the breaker in the water heater to shut off Edward?

it could be a loose wire in the hotwater heater or loose wire in fuse box both only need a screwdriver to check or fix.

bottled water comes from some well or another. im saying this because the reason I don't like well water isn't because its well water but the promixity to the surface is too close to the fact people do dump oil and pollutants in vacant lots, not to mention gas line leaks. the aquifer is way to deep to get that.

If the label says Natural Spring Water by law that is what it is supposed to be.. Where i worked was part of the law suit that brought that ruling to be...
