Obama calls Kanye West a "jackass"

Yeah what he did was just plain crazy, it made me very angry. But on the Jay Leno show last night, he poured out his heart with remorse, so you forgive him and move on, I don't think that he will ever do that again. Now congressman Joe Wilson, does not mean his apology, you can just plain see it, they were talking about it on the Today Show, this morning, and everybody agreed that Wilson is really not sorry.

Congressman Wilson was on Today this morning and admitted he wasn't sincere?

Or did others simply judge his heart and decide that he couldn't possibly have meant it?

Just wondering how you came to the conclusion that it's obvious that Wilson wasn't sincere.

I listened to the man yesterday speak about this. He sounded truly regretful for his outburst during Obama's speech. What he isn't regretful about is the fact that he felt that the President was being disingeneous about health coverage for illegals, and being that, after the outburst, the White House did put in language to enforce that no illegals would be covered, it can be argued that the outburst, though regrettable, was effective. Up until then, every time Republicans tried to put enforcement into the bill, the Democrats would strike it out. Now the President has stated he wants it enforced that illegals are not to receive government funded health insurance and that enforcement language is to be written into the bill.

The thing about the Wilson comments was that it was the right message but he admits it was given in the wrong way at the wrong time. That is what Wilson sincerely apologized for, and what the President accepted.

Now if only all the Democrats who called Bush a liar on the floor of the House would apologize as well.

It seems like the president's remarks should have been kept private by the press. People, even the president, should be entitled so a little privacy. I'm just tired of every little thing being such a public affair for the media.

I read about Kanye West yesterday, and he is simply a young man, who is on his own without his mother for the first time, and he is not handling things well. I think his apology should be accepted, and people should be more forgiving toward him, and that he is wise to take a break for a while. I hope he gets a change to apologize in person to her like he wants to do.

When the president is speaking to the whole country, that is not something that you do, when have you ever heard of that being done before. It never was done to Bush, when his approval ratings went way down, and I was a republican for 30 something years until that last election, and I would never have done Bill Clinton like that, when I was a republican. But we all know humans do stupid things. And when Bush was in office, and someone would have said that to him, I would have been offended as well. So So Dora you think that Joe was on the up and up, with his apology ? And lovely, I agree with you.

Actually, the press often allows the President and others to speak off the record. It happens all of the time not only now but also during past administrations.

I agree. The comment was off the record. At that moment in time, Obama wasn't speaking as the President, but just as Obama. I believe that most will be sympathetic. At least it wasn't as bad as Regan's off the record "joke" about bombing Russia.

I think what West did was forgivable and it's up to Taylor Swift to forgive him, but I think you may be mistaken about West. He is a 32 year old man, hardly someone who needs his mom around to act decently and he has a long history of these kinds of outbursts. In 2004, he walked out of the AMA awards because he lost to Gretchen Wilson, in 2005, he stunned Mike Meyers during a Hurrican Katrina support telethon by going on a rant and saying "George Bush doesn't care about black people." In 2006, he made a scene during another awards ceremony saying that his video should have won the catagory when he lost the award to someone else.

Taylor Swift is 19 years old. West is 32. Which one should be acting like a grown up? At any rate, it's Swift's call and up to her to forgive him. Which she will most likely do, if he gets around to apologizing to her, instead of just making more of a public spectacle of himself. As far as I can tell, he still hasn't actually talked to Taylor yet.

Although we can all agree that Beyonce is one very classy lady!

BTW, Wilson called the White House immediately after the speech to apologize to the President in person.

Yes, I believe that Wilson was sincerely sorry that he sounded off during the speech. After listening to him yesterday, I truly do believe that he sincerely feels it was the right message, but the wrong place and time, and that the outburst was not fitting his place as an elected offical. I also agree with him on that.

But, it was indeed done to Bush. Democrats openly booed Bush during a State of the Union address and Democrats also, upon several occasions called Bush a liar on the house floor. No apologies were forthcoming.

Hmmm, Dora I don't remember it, but I defended George with everything that I had with in me, even over the war. You know something I do remember something about him being booed, it is just not clear when. Oh yeah he was out somewhere and he got booed, but I don't ever remember him being booed at a State Of The Union speech.

Yeah, I am forced to agree with your explanation, Dora. I have only what I read to go by, but I will say loosing someone who usually guides you and keeps you grounded, someone you can completely trust, expecially when you believe you are a superstar and have a lot of money, and so forth, is likely to make one do some stupid things even at his age. I agree, Beyonce was gracious.

agreed he did act that way, and he apologized move on, nothing is "off the record". I was trained like all guard soldiers are in dealing the media in the event of a large call up(disaster). The media will say this and get you to talk and boom its open season with no legal recourse.

Hey Lewis, thanks for the derailment. :nag
Hey Brian, what did I do ? :nag Mr west might be bipolar. He is displaying a mental disorder, and that is for sure.

Kanye's move was rude and thoughtless. He knows it, he's shown remorse and I bet he regrets it with all his heart. He'll never live it down. Wilson will probably never live down his outburst either, but there's a big difference between a hip-hop star's outburst during an MTV awards show and a U.S. Representative's outburst during a Congressional session.

Is this true? National Outburst Week? LOL

You brought up Wilson. Wilson is being discussed in two or three other threads. No biggie though, I can live with it! Sorry for jumping at you like that. Frustrating day for me. I sincerely need help in dealing with people when I'm sleep deprived and frustrated. :shame

I agree about Mr.West and I hope Taylor Swift will accept his apology (if he offered it to her). I think she would. She seems like a very sweet 19yr old girl.

It was very classy of Biance' to have her up on stage afterwards, :clap

No I did not see your other post's Brian, because I don't go all over this board like I use to a few years back, sometimes I will, but it is not often anymore at all.

"He's a jackass." <quote from Obama>

It takes one to know one?! :shades
