Our Testimony/Normal Christianity

It might help you understand me better if I give you a little of our testimony. I became a believer in '77 and my wife Judy 3 years previously. We "discovered" that Jesus is just who He says He is and still doing all the same things He did in His earthly ministry: "Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever." We also learned He wanted things done His way, according to what His word says, not "I think" or what religion told us. For instance we saw the promise in Acts 16:31, and by faith (Hebrews 11:1) our parents, brothers and sisters all received Jesus. It was interesting because Judy's family were quite Catholic. They are not anymore!
I had the privilege of leading my father to the Lord. Jesus healed him of high blood pressure (he had been on medication for 30 years) and diabetes.

The keys to Jesus' kingdom and all Jesus purchased in His atonement we found out were just what Peter preached in Acts 2:37-39. "...Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. Two things we decided to do His way. We were clueless about the Holy Spirit but saw it in Mark 16:17 "And these signs will follow those who believe: In my name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues;...". We "believed" and man's views weren't working so it happened a lot like in Acts 19:1-6. We also found out that He really is a jealous God and will not share His glory with another.

As we saw Him faithful we decided to trust Him alone for His promises. My attitude was (and still is) either Jesus does today what He promises and did 2000 years ago if we meet the conditions (and His grace enables us) or we need another god. So I canceled our health insurance, paid off all debt including our mortgage and Jesus became our family physician and provider. Five of our 7 children were born at home by the power of Jesus plus 10 grand children. One daughter was still born with the cord wrapped around her neck, a dark purple and not breathing (dead) I called out to Jesus and He raised her up. Jesus has healed all of us many times: asthma, broken bones, hemorrhage, appendicitis, and more without any use of shots, drugs or the medical system for over 30 years. Most of these were healings we were required to believe Jesus' word and battle the devil for over a period of time. Instantaneous miracles are great, but do not produce Hebrews 11 faith.

We have had the privilege to pray for others and see them healed by Jesus' power; two people of terminal cancer (their doctors were amazed). We have friends that see all of Matthew 10:7-8 quite often including our oldest son's father-in-law who ministers to the Indians in the mountains of Oaxaca, Mexico. People need a Jesus that works in their situation, not after they are dead!

This is NORMAL Christianity not some "special" grace. Many think we are insane, but my attitude is we are not out of our minds, just out of theirs. Believers have been robbed of so much by religion, opinion, doubt and unbelief that Kingdom living is nearly an unknown thing and "churchianity" substituted for it. After all Jesus mentioned the Kingdom Of Heaven (God) over 100 times in the gospels and the church twice.

Our hearts are to do all we can to have Jesus receive all the love, faith and obedience from Christians that He died to make possible.

Welcome to CFnet! :wave

I'll just kindly advise that you do not shame members who thankfully take prescribed medication that the Lord has made available as a means of healing and treating their conditions. And since you don't have their complete history and are not a physician, please do not advise that they cease doing what a physician has counseled them to do. :)

Romans 8:1New King James Version (NKJV)

8 There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus,[a] who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit.
I have never done as you suggest nor do I plan to.
Please give me scripture that Jesus or any Christian in the Bible used drugs to heal. Please show me where the Bible gives drugs as a remedy for sickness or that they are given by God.

What a great initial post! Welcome to CFnet. I think Mike gave you sound advice. Anyway, I look forward to future posts from you.

Thank you. Jesus is faithful.
This forum should have testimonies like this as common occurrence as this is normal Christianity.
I appreciate his advice and acknowledged it. It has not yet been posted.

1 Timothy 5:23 "Stop drinking only water, and use a little wine because of your stomach and your frequent illnesses."

But I'm not going to argue this in your introduction thread. If you cannot agree to do as I advised, your time here may be short. If you can, then we should be fine, and I could enjoy a discussion on this topic in an appropriate forum (Apologetics & Theology).

I honor your faith, but this is something each believer needs to settle with the Lord.

I have not disobeyed your directive. I did ask for scripture for your position on drugs. What I have written should condemn no one in Christ Jesus. When I first got born again and heard what I have written in our testimony was possible I was not offended or condemned but I wanted to know how this could be! I simply found out and applied it. Yes, there were trials, fear, and all the rest to overcome. Doing these things comes with a cost. It has been my experience that many do not want to pay it. Do you?
I changed, as the Bible says, when I was born again (saved) and received the Acts 2:4 experience.
I really do not understand why Christians would defend a system that kills over 150,000 people every year in the US alone by there own admission, when Jesus died to freely give them healing without drugs. Could it be a demon spirit of medical mind control that is responsible for this?
I agree that it is every Christian's own decision. However, it is settled in God's word and in heaven. I am just a reporter on normal Christianity which is available to anyone who will believe.
Wine is not a drug. The water was a common source of sickness in Bible times and even today. That is why wine drinking at meals and for thirst is common practice in many places in the world. Paul was just imparting common sense which we also have to use, like eating healthy food and beverage.

Fair question.
No, I have not. I have prayed for some that were not healed. That hurts. I take the responsibility and seek Jesus on the issue. The devil fights VERY hard to stop anyone who even tries to do what Mark 16:17-18 says. Faith in this case is continuing to do what Jesus says is right when I do not see the results I should. I know it works and will not quit. I figure the devil has pay back coming for the ones he killed when I failed them. 0 people prayed for to be healed or raised from the dead equals 0 that get healed or raised. It does get easier, results better, and will become second nature if we stay at it. That is where we are going in Jesus name, but we are not there yet. Wanna come?

People of great faith like you are needed in the Christian circle. I was under heavy medication and drugs for sinus problem for many years until I was totally and completely healed when someone prayed for me right here in this forum. Unfortunately that fella's gone now (Cornelius), I wonder what happened to him ... :shrug

I would like to ask you - Luke was a physician. How do you think he treated his patients ? Drugs/medication or simply prayers ?

I have heard of stories where children died because silly Christian parents denied them proper medical treatments in the name of faith healing ..... :shame2

Hello lesjude

I do not suffer from high blood pressure but i do suffer from type 2 diabetes. That is the type where you do not get injections but either are on a strict diet and may be taking pill medication. Anyway i have never really worried about it because it does not affect my everyday life much at the moment. But i am looking to the future and the prospect of future health problems like eye and extremity circulation problems that can lead to very serious infections. Anyway I would like to ask for you to pray for me. But i would also ask that you pray as Jesus guided us to pray. Maybe i do not need to ask you to do that? From your post you seem to be 100% focused on the Leading of Jesus and not given over to the traditions of men.

Anyway welcome to the forum :waving , i hope we can share wisdom and grow together in the knowledge of God.

Luckily, I don't take medicine for anything at the moment, but if I get sick for a week I'm going to the doctor. And I gotta get shots to go to school, but that's fine because I don't want to get TB anyways, I hear it stinks!

And while I do agree that prayer can fix what ails you (I'm Pentecostal, it's how we do) I'm not above taking a pill when I gotta.

My wife was healed by Jesus of a similar condition.

These stories are out there. I make no judgement. I will say it is never right to change what is clear in scripture based on anyone's experience, even our own.

There is no evidence that Luke ever treated anyone before or after his salvation. In fact he could have easily been called a physician because he had the Holy Spirit gift of healing and never was a "medical" doctor. One of God's redemptive names is Great Physician so there is a connection to one with the gift as it comes from the Great Physician.
All the physicians of the time used drugs to effect cures. Some were called sorcerers. Luke had the light on this as he wrote the book of Acts. He had the light on drugs so it is unlikely he would use them if he ever did. Please see Acts 8:9-13 and my thread on the "Christian and the legal drug cult(ure)"

Be healed in Jesus name!

I have prayed for some that were not healed.

See, this is the problem. Jesus did NOT die on the cross to give us physical healing. If He did, then He is a failure, as your quotes above illustrate.

I find it interesting that any "healings" that are paraded out before the public are always fake. And now, we have some guy calling himself "lesjude" on the internet making claims that he, personally, is a pipeline to Jesus who...

That is where we are going in Jesus name, but we are not there yet. Wanna come?
will then grant physical healing to those who follow lesjude.

Relax, I am not saying that you are a fake.

I think you are delusional. And I KNOW that Jesus is not a failure.
