Oxford School shooting

That being said, the Rittenhouse case was part of a national discussion of race. That is a completely different discussion than the national school shooting discussion.

Amen. Amen!!!

And while the prosecutor for the Oxford school shooting is a democrat, she came out early and clearly stated she is not anti gun and clarified she supports responsible gun ownership.

Wow that is refreshing to hear.

Thank goodness.

You have to keep in mind the demographics of Oakland county. Cities like Pontiac are center blue while cities like Oxford are solid red, as are all of the more rural cities within Oakland county. The margins are extremely close, and this prosecutor is doing a great job.

I hope and pray something good will come from this tragic event.

Our God is well able to take what was meant for evil, and turn it into something good.

I am very impressed with the reporting our local news has been doing. The national news is lacking a lot of detail.

Let’s see how well I remember this. The day before the shooting, the boy was caught looking up ammunition on his phone. The parents were notified and the Moms response to her son was, “Just don’t get caught next time”. Prior to this incident, the police were called to his home for some sort of disturbance.
The morning of the shooting a teacher saw a drawing that he said was for a website, or something to that effect. The picture depicted a gun, bullets, a person being shot with blood splattering and random phrases that I can’t remember them all, except,”blood everywhere, they all die, etc…. I can’t get these thoughts out of my head, help me”.

He was taken to the school counselor and the parents were called. He spent about 90 minutes with the counselor and school staff when they met with the parents. The parents refused to take him home, and the school put him back in class.

Had The parents, or the school checked his backpack. Had either party done this, they would have found the gun.

When the father heard about the school shooting, he immediately went home and found the gun missing, and proceeded to call 911 and say it was his boy who was responsible.

The prosecutor has not filed charges on the school staff yet, which follows suit with how she charged the parents. If she gets enough evidence, she will file.

I am amazed how transparent this prosecutor is.
I'm not trying to undermine anything you have written. In the US we have a right to presumption of innocence until proven guilty with a speedy trial before an impartial jury but today, with the way social media and the press is allowed to run wild and unhindered, it is nearly impossible for anyone in a high profile case to be afforded their rights under the law. I just think people should reserve sharing their "facts" for the trials that will come. As is typical with any of these types of situations, the rumor mills run rampant and it is not Christian to feed those rumor mills.

When BLM protesters came to Detroit, they got shot with rubber bullets and hit with billy clubs. Detroit police learned something from the Detroit riots from 1967 and they were not going to have a repeat. And yes, Detroit is a democratic city, but they don’t embrace defunding the police etc.

The prosecuting attorney is undermining the defendant's rights to trial before impartial jury by saying anything at all. This is one way they sway public opinion before the case goes before a court and that is wrong in this country.

I understand, and I don’t think your undermining anything.

If anything, it’s a good caution for those that receive their news from national outlets. Every national outlet will, and has capitalized on this story to support their narrative. This is much different than our local news.

My best advice is get your news local. WXYZ (channel 7) in Detroit is doing a great job reporting just facts as is the Detroit Freepress.

If you go to the first day when she made her public appearance, she did not disclose her information. It was our local news who uncovered it and made it public knowledge.

The public isn’t stupid…. We know what’s going on thanks to our local news. Once it’s public knowledge, the prosecutor no longer needs to keep it disclosed. The public has the right to know. The victims have a right to know.

There is not an inkling of doubt who shot and murdered four students and injured others. And there is absolutely no doubt that this boy and his parents will go to prison.

I’m not being mean, nor argumentative here, so please don’t think that I am. But it is my feeling that it’s not fair to compare the Rittenhouse case with this case. But where I do agree with you is that we should be very cautious what and how the national media will spin this for their own agenda, which is exactly what happened in the Rittenhouse case and trial.

Here is a video that for the most part, is getting his news from a national news source. I know this because it lacks detail and he doesn’t have complete answers for some things, like how the parents were charged legally. Michigan has different laws than Texas, and in this video he compared Texas to Michigan as far as the parents being charged when their child shoots up a school.

From what I know, a child can be gifted a gun in Michigan, but the parents are legally responsible for any illegal activity that the child may commit with that gun. This makes it a different case than the Texas school shooting since the parents did not purchase that gun for their child IF, and I emphasis IF Texas Law is exactly the same as Michigan laws.

For the most part, I agree with his sentiment, but he needs to get his information from local , unbiased sources instead of just skimming from national news sources.

Yeah Midwest dems tend to not get too involved with the gun debate outside Chicago. My State dems are also pretty pro gin and avoid making these cases political. I'm glad this case is being handled as professionally as it has.
