I agree with the prediction, although I'm never one to guess at scores. And with much mixed emotion, I think I'm leaning toward wanting the Packers to win. The lesser of two frustrations. Having a division rival holding a SB championship over our heads next year is slightly less bothersome than Pittsburgh winning yet another one while the Lions having sniffed it. :gah

Growing up in the Detroit area, it's a survival tactic to take up another team, otherwise you just come undone. So Pittsburgh was my team at such an impressionable age. Bradshaw, Swann, Stallworth, Harris, etc. But enough's enough! I've become thoroughly Lionized.

Well, being from PA I guess I will cheer for the Steelers, but I agree that the Packers may win..... that's what most people in this nation want.

However, that being said, the Steelers won more Superbowls, no? (I'm not a big football expert).

My opinion on any Superbowl is that BOTH teams are good regardless of who wins or loses. After all, they made it there, did they not?

Not because the AFC is better than the NFC. Just the NFC has 238727023 falcons and cowboys this year. The media darling bowl is poorly determined.

The Pro Bowl is only equaled in its insignificance by pre-season football. MLB is the only all-star game that means anything at all. You may disagree with the concept of it having an impact on the World Series, but at least it means something. They should do away with the Pro Bowl. It's pointless.

The probowl would be 'better' if they allowed blitzing. I don't like the probowl, and I dont like that it excludes superbowl teams.

I can't believe there are enough people who are willing to pay (on average) thousands of dollars to sit in a seat at the Super Bowl. Sure many are corporate purchase, but many aren't. There is NO CHANCE that I would pay anything like that to watch ANY single event. No chance. As much as I love football, the hype over this game has driven the street value way out of whack. If I had a ticket with a face value of $200, I'd sell it in a heart beat.

With regard to the seats, I don't disagree. Football is perfect for TV, and you get all the explanations & replays that you don't when you're there. Having season tickets to the Lions, this being more than a single event, it's a great time of bonding with my son and my profoundly God-loving friend. So, it's more than the game. It's the tailgating experience, the fellowship as well as the games that last a season. As long as I am blessed with the means, I'll keep our seats. Having my best friend in Christ (besides my wife ;)) there is a bonus, but building memories with my son is, as the commercials say, "priceless". We always have the option of selling our tickets with a roughly $50 profit, but our fandom outweighs that kind of profit.

If the Lions are ever to make the Super Bowl , I don't know that I could ever turn down a 1000% profit (don't know if season ticket holders get any priority with tickets), but I guess I might be persuaded by my son and friend. If it were in another town, and we had to buy them at street value PLUS the travel costs, I'll say here what I'd tell my son: "Not-a-chance! Not-going-to-happen!"

I don't play the lottery for the same reason I don't desire to be so wealthy that dropping $2000 on the seat alone ($3000+ when all is said and done with travel expenses) is something that I could shake off. If I'm at that point, IMO, I've lost touch with what's important. But, that's only my perspective now.

Well, there you have it. I'm happy that the Pack beat the Steelers, but now I have to deal with an inner-divisional rival holding the trophy over our heads for the next year. The QB's, right or wrong, are often the faces for their franchises. In this case, they were drastically different. Rodgers has been quietly assuming the leadership position that Favre abandoned. I appreciate his approach. I don't appreciate Roth and his bar-hopping image.

How odd it was to see defensive player after defensive player from GB walk that path to the locker room? As the Steelers were mounting comeback in the 3rd quarter, I thought they took the momentum and were headed for the championship. But the GB defense held on to stave off Pitt.

Let's hope the PA and league can come to an agreement to play football next year.

I don't know WHAT he predicted, I just came up with my own predictoin yesterday based on the following "logic":

STEELERS - steel town workers who rape and pillage the planet by making steel.

PACKERS - meat packers who rape and pillage the planet by killing animals.


LOGIC - the packers are more directly destructive to the planet becasue they kill animals intentionally, the steelers are only indirectly harming animals. So, we always vote for the good guy (or, in this case, the least of the bad) - so we pick the Steelers.


See? The "Environmentalist Whacko" method is easy to apply - it's just that the wrong team won. Sometimes, the wrong thing happens!
