I don't quite get the connection between this event and Calvinism being associated with success gospel belief systems. Calvinism as I know it is pretty far from success gospel belief.

That's why I said "some". Have you read Max Weber's The Protestant Ethic and the Development of Capitalism? I'm not sure if that's the exact title. It does address the connection between the development of capitalism and Calvinism.

Hi, no I have not read it but I'll look into it to see if it's something of interest to me. But still, tieing capitalism to Calvinism is different than associating it with prosperity theology, no?

I detest Pat Robertson but what is wrong with what he said, besides, of course, that it is judgemental, unloving, and disgusting.

Didn't God wipe out the inhabitants of the Earth with a flood?

Didn't God burn all the inhabitants of Soddom and Gomorroah with fire?

Seems perfectly in-line with the Old Testament version of Yahweh.

Only one problem with this, we're not living under the old covenant (the old testament) we're under the new covenant (the new testament).

I don't know that Pat Robertson is or isn't a man of God. I do know that Pat Robertson be he devilish or Godly did in fact tell the truth concerning Haiti. The truth has been out there for a long time about how the Haitians practice of satanism and voodoo. They've never denied it except for when the French enslaved them and banned the practice. The Catholic church threw out paper dragons that were supposed to appear as if they cared but they didn't and eventually Catholicism became incorporated into voodoo. Or was it really the other way around? Anyway the point is that Pat Robertson told the truth. I am pretty sure that even devils do that sometimes. God's judgments are well known. They aren't hard to recognize.
