Pope endorses same sex civil unions

I did not choose this. I spent years trying to change it. Desperately. I DID NOT CHOOSE THIS.
I gave up trying to change it because I can't. I learned to live with it.

You may as well tell short people they chose to be short.
Everyone I know that is gay became so from circumstances in their life that led them to this lifestyle as no one is born gay, especially when it is an abomination to God. God will never create someone to be gay.
I never said not to. I'm not trying to stop you. My biggest argument in here is that JLB keeps claiming the Pope said something he did not say.
Why don't you post the articles to prove JLB is wrong. It's not that hard to find what the Pope has said.
that's the thing,, THEY ARE NOT DOING IT!
What about those Priest that are molesting young boys and the Pope turns a blind eye to it, are you saying they are Godly?
Don't you see how Edward and JLB talk to me? Especially Edward. The constant projection, insinuating I'm a woman because I won't agree with him. The constant digs.

Quite seriously, if I saw that kind of treatment to anyone else, especially from a 59 yeaR old man, most would rightfully call that out as abuse, but since I'm gay it's ok.
Haven't you seen where I deleted those comments as I gave them the reason why.

My circumstances were that I hit puberty and found men attractive.

You mean the article in the op that literally says that he supports civil unions and not marriage?

Did not say it was OK. I did not say the Pope was infallable.

I have only commented about what the Pope said Bout this issue, which Edward and JLB kept misrepresenting.

I looked back and see now. I'm sorry.

Actually what it all boils down to that I can see is that it doesn't matter if you personally are gay as that is none of our business.

No I am not asking about the article in the OP, I am saying why not find an article quoting the Pope in what he actually said to show proof to Edward and JLB he is wrong. It's foolishness to argue over something you think is wrong, but have no proof to back yourself up with. Since Priest are allowed to marry gay couples, where do you think that came from if not from the Pope.

You may as well tell short people they chose to be short.

Could it be so? So you're attracted to the same sex and gave in because you're tired of fighting it? And you also seem to be attracted to a Christian forum for some reason. Could it be possible that maybe you're possessed by an evil spirit and in need of Deliverance?

Now that's no slur. That's an honest question.

Have you ever try to seek out the Lord in effort to deal with your situation that you claim came to you not by choice?

Scripture does say, If you seek the Lord you will find him.

We can all find ways to justify our sinful nature to ourselves. I've had to deal with it with regards to pornography and coveting and using foul language and stealing and lying and using God's name in vain and .....

I pray that God will deliver you from this and I hope for your sake that is what you pray for as well!

God bless you!

Same. I don't think orientation change is a thing. I don't think it needs to change.
That said, I know people who claim their orientation changed, and.... I'll take their word for it just cause I don't want to call them liars. But overall I don't think it's a thing. I hate to compare being gay to an illness, cuz it's not an illness, but just like God doesn't "heal" everyone who is sick just because they pray and have faith.....so, too, not everyone who is same sex attracted and wants to stop being same sex attracted, will be. Anyone who's spent a substantial amount of time around former ex-gays knows this.

I'm attracted to other women, romantically. (Sexually, I'm asexual.) Personally being a devout Christian who holds the traditional Christian view on same sex activity, I am sworn to lifelong singlehood and celibacy.

Personally, I only occasionally truly "struggle" with my romantic attraction. I've had times where I've been very depressed because I know I can't be with the person I loved. Most of the time it's not like that. Actually, my biggest problems with being same sex attracted is how other Christians treat me because of it.

I said only the one's I know, I wasn't talking about everyone in general. All I do know is that God did not create that which He says is an abomination to Him as it would go against His own word.
I think it's a result of the fall, like many things are. I've personally known lots of gay people who grew up in church and everything and even from a young age they knew they were attracted to the same sex.
I think there can indeed be different and varying "causes", even some secular sources at least claim their attractions started after being abused. But it's not that way for everyone. Many have had perfectly normal and healthy childhoods and still turned out gay.

It doesn't matter how one became gay, but yet the acting upon it is what is an abomination to God. I can look at a woman or a man and find them very attractive, but in a complimentary way, but have no desire to have sex with them. Since we are all created in God's image, then none are born to this lifestyle, but only for whatever reason choose it.

I just don't think it's a choice to experience same sex attraction. Some may experience it more intensely than others. I might have an easier time ignoring my attractions than another person.
Acting on it is definitely a choice.

Of the gay people I know well and others I have spoken to, not a one of them would have chosen to be gay.

While it is more accepted today, it is still a life of ridicule and bullying. As someone whonwas bullied as a child, I couldn't fathom choosing that life.
