ok. well witch warp engine do want to discuss?

standard warp?
transwarp?
ultrawarp.?
Let's begin with standard warp. The stuff they used during the Next Generation.

Hyperspace is faster than warp.

Let's begin with standard warp. The stuff they used during the Next Generation.

actually when it first came it out was ultra warp and when Rodenberry died it was changed to transwarp.

standwarp is of the tos era

its simple the speed is the power of the speed of light.

enterprise ncc 1701 had a max speed of warp 8.

enterprise d had a max speed of warp 9.95. whilst voyager reached 9.9999 and could reach warp 10 and hang with the borg cubes.

knotical

the star wars systems of propulsion were called ftl not hyperspace and they were slower.

whilst stargates type of hyperdrive was faster depending the ship in use.

So the Babylon 5 hyperspace jumpgates were superior to all. Plus, the Babylon 5 hyperspace gets a bonus point for creepiness.

ultra warp works as such

warp one is the speed of light

warp two is the speed of light to the power of 2^2. its called an enginer's curve. ie warp 9 the speed of light to the power power is 9^9

those were limited. never left the galaxy. stargates did.

If the drives used in Star Wars were faster than light, how could they be slower than warp?

because they didn't mention power.

do the math of warp nine to the ninth power.

its real fast and well one sees that one could travel the galaxy in minutes so that is why it was changed.

Okay, that sounds more like it. Warp 9 would be 387420489 times the speed of light then? They'd be from here to Alpha Centauri in a split second. They'd probably miss it because they're too fast.

Then where does Ludicrous speed come in?

remember they dropped out warp to maneuver.ie they had to. it mentioned in the books and in the movie generations. and they had a cruise speed of warp 7 not warp 9. 8 and up was in duress.

I tried to fix up your OP, but did not succeed. I'm not sure why it allowed you to post raw HTML though :lol

Ok, my turn for trivia.

Kangaroos cannot walk backwards.

I didn't know they walked at all. I thought they hopped.

True, they do hop. But they can't go backwards.

My cat isn't necessarily cute. He's just big. He's a Maine Coon. Weighs about 24 pounds. If he was an orange tabby instead of a grey tabby, he'd look like a baby tiger.

Helios is a part Maine Coon ... 27lbs of orange tabby happy. He's not the cat in the avatar pic though, that's Apollo.

Now that I'm thinking about it ... how many animals period will naturally go backwards. I have cats and have had a dog and I don't remember any of them naturally going backwards. The cats execute ninja flips/spins to go running ... even when I had a horse he'd (try to) bend himself in half to continue going forward rather than walking backwards ...

I've seen many dogs go backwards. But I agree not many animals tend to go backwards, even if they can. Now that I think about it, not many humans tend to go backwards anyway.
