I'm not one who asks for help with anything so me even being here and asking for prayer is a HUGE step for me.

Here's my story:

I've grew up in a church and I'm 22 now but I've never felt a connection with God. I feel like I've tried everything. Praying, repenting, etc. . . I honestly don't know what's going on.

Lately my life has come crashing down. I'm in a little bit of debt, I lost my job, my boyfriend just disappears for no reason, and I've caught myself lying to cover up other lies. I know I'm on a road to self-destruction and I know that Turning to God is the path I need to choose. It's the path I want but I'm scared because I've never seemed to have success with it in the past. I firmly believe in God but nothing I've been able to do has helped.

Any advice, suggestions and prayers will be greatly apprieciated.

Thanks for taking the time to read this!

I'll pray for you. If you ever want to talk, I'm on very often. Send me a PM or something. I may not know all the answers, but I know people who can help with that too. At the very least, I can listen and offer what advice I do have. You're not in this alone. There's nothing wrong with asking for help. In fact, God wants us to not only be dependent on him, but dependent on one another. He wants us to lean on one another and help each other.

I'm here if you want to talk.

Thank you. Your support and prayers really do mean a lot to me. It's really hard to talk about things that are this personal sometimes. I just have never felt a personal relationship with God and that's what I strive for. I guess it's not really something that anyone can tell me how to accomplish, I know I need to do it on my own. But having people through 123 to talk to and let out my frustrations have helped in major ways. I just joined today and I already feel a sense of peace just knowing that there are people going through the same things and feelings as I am.

Again, thank you so much for your reply and prayers. It means so much more than you will ever know!

God Bless you and Goodnight!!

I firmly believe in God but nothing I've been able to do has helped.

Its not what you can do, its what He can do. This may be a time in your life where you need to let go and let Him take control. Its great that you are here and we are available to talk with and encourage you. You should also find Christians to converse with face to face. I'd suggest talking with a pastor's wife or a Christian woman that you know of and trust.

I'll remember you in prayer.

Aimee,

You have my prayers. I think there was a time in my early twenties when I could have written a post very near the one you first wrote in this thead. I just want to encourage you. First, God's love, and our salvation, is not based on how we feel. You are going through a season in your life that seems to be a struggle, and you find yourself doing things that you would have never done before. This seems to make us feel distant from God, even to the point of wondering if we believe in Him at all, or if we have ever been saved. Trust that if you have given your life to Him, it is His, and that your sin can not steal your salvation, but if you love Him obey and make every effort to live your life in love. God is not a liar, and He can keep you even when you feel in doubt. Secondly, the Word, is extremely important. Read it daily, more than once a day, and not to please your own sense of consistancy, but to satisfy your soul. Read, and if you do not know Him...through the Word He will draw you, and if you do know Him, it will gird you up, and give you the proper perspective. Paul tells us to think on certain things in Phillipians, are you? Do you have on the whole armor of God? These things are important for believers, especially ones that are just embarking out into the world in a real way. And, finally, you were very wise to seek out prayer because it is so vital. I will pray, and others here will, but you need to as well...talk to Him often, and learn about who He is, and love Him with everything in your heart. I hope this is an encouragement. The Lord bless you, and again you have my prayers.

Trust God.........

Trust God above all things- He knows your needs, and He wants to build a relationship with you. Even when you feel like you are disconnected from God, He is always there & He Loves you so much!! Trust in Him, Give your problems to Him & let Him show you the way to deal with events like this, & not just these events, but everyday events that go on in your life. God takes such a personal interest in your life, Believe in Him & trust Him to show you the way!! You're in my prayers!!

Been there too...

I know what your going through because I have been through similiar stages in my life. One thing that helped me to grow closer to God than anything else was reading His word. It does have an amazing impact. Also another thing that really helped me was good, christian fellowship. You have got a good start because the people here are great & will offer you plenty of encouragment. I pray that God would draw you nearer to Him everyday.

In Christ,
Jim
