Is prostitution a sin? and do you think prostitutes and the "punters" who use them are bad people? i'm just wondering what people's views are on this?

First of all, welcome to the forums billy :wave

Yes, prostitution is a sin. I think it is unfortunate that many young girls in some countries are sold into prostitution and don't have much of a choice, but it is still wrong. The people who force them into it will surely pay.

yes it a sin, but also some prostitutes do it for drugs and lets remember that jesus can heal them, and deliver them, ie rachab, mary magdeline, and others.

Why do you really need to ask this? Of course it's wrong. :halo

Protitution is a sin. Are prostitutes bad people? Not necessarily. Boaz's mother was a prostitute. God knows man's heart best so He is the best judge of character.

Yes, I think you will get 100% agreement here that it is immoral and sinful.

God loves all people including the prostitutes and they can definitely turn from that sin and repent. No sin is too great for God to forgive.

Prostitution is wrong because it does not promote spiritual growth. It is fornication, a great sin as stated in the Holy Bible. It also promotes other sins such as adultery and murder (the higher number of partners someone has the more likely they will contract and spread deadly viruses).

Question: Prostitution-do you believe it is wrong?

Answer: YES!

I think you will get unanimous consensus that YES IT IS A SIN. Sex is God's gift to a married man and woman for sharing of intimacy and bearing of children, and not for anyone else. To use it any other way is sinful.

Jasoncran good point, we love and serve a forgiving God and if someone is repentant and genuinely sorry for their sins God will forgive them... aren't we fortunate as imperfect human beings that our Almighty God is so very understanding and time and time again takes us back when we turn from Him and His good and perfect way.

I've called myself a "knowledge whore" because I don't care where good things come from.

Does that count?

lol - I'll think we'll let you off on that one! :biglaugh

thanks for all your comments.I do not hate them because I feel sorry for them because of the circumstances they have.but hope that help can be provided by people to help them leave it.

We must remember that this problem isn't an outside the border issue. Many people in America live below the poverty level and are forced to sell their bodies to afford to live.

that's true, but I can think of other ways to make a living that doesn't involve immoral deeds. I would never sell my body like that. But that's just me.

1Co 6:9 Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders
1Co 6:10 nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God.

Will the person who repents of this sin but is forces to continue it by their owners be guilty of sin. I think not, your thoughts on this.

I'm not saying its acceptable. I am simply reminding everyone that it doesn't only occur in third world countries. Yes, you can think of other ways and probably have a support net. Not everyone is fortunate like you. This is why it's important to teach others Christ Love. Open their eyes, if possible.

Why is it judgement is the first conclusion we tend to draw?

I'm pretty sure its a sin :) But I wouldnt call prostitutes entirely immoral. Obviously there are many that are sold and forced into prostitution. If your forced to do something against your will then it wasn't your choice to make a moral decision or not. I actually personally know a few girls that ended up going into escort services, as well as a man. And i realize that these acts can be taken as completely "sickening" and sinful and so on, especially within the christian religion, but unfortunately some of the most successful markets deal with drugs, sex and more money regardless of what is needed to achieve a greater profit. Most of the girls (and the man) who i know that had gone into escort services werent doing it to fuel their drug drive. A lot of people will do a lot of "crazy" things to be making as much as my friends have made in that line of work in such a short time frame.

To answer your question though; I only see it wrong if someone is forced into it. Out of pure choice - however - perhaps even a need to do such a job (IE raising a child or two as an only mother in a poor family and only looking to give aid to her children) then it is completely fine in my eyes.

There are many reasons for the choice. It strikes me as a very sad thing, but that is not to say that I haven't been there. All sin is detestable (even mine).

And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat.

God gave me those trees (I'm thinking is a spiritual way). He broke the yoke of sin for me personally. What did I DO???

For of old time I have broken thy yoke, and burst thy bands; and thou saidst, I will not transgress; when upon every high hill and under every green tree thou wanderest, playing the harlot.
Yet I had planted thee a noble vine, wholly a right seed: how then art thou turned into the degenerate plant of a strange vine unto me?
(Jer 2:20-21)

I have played the harlot under every green tree and upon every high hill, yes - even on the hills of Jerusalem, even under the trees there. Sin is sin and when returning from my backslidden state, I confessed my idolatry. Certainly, there is a reason to be glad that Jesus befriended prostitutes. Had he not, how could I be saved? He said that the Good Physician came to heal the sick, yes?

I can not deny the truth of this but affirm that being in sin in no way disqualifies a person from being healed.
