Now, here's my question: When one reads verses such as these, is there NEVER a question about the validity of 'trinity'? I mean, what does this mean to you: "....from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. NO, not, 'from God our Father who IS the Lord Jesus Christ', but, 'from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ'. Don't you get it? I mean how much would you have to 'twist' what this states plainly and openly to turn it into something other than it is?
Oh come on Imagican, if you are going to argue against trinitarianism then argue against it. Don't set up a straw man and then think you have made a good argument.

So Free,

Are you saying that the point I offered isn't even worth answering. For this becomes obvious in your response. I AM arguing 'trinity' and the point that I made IS perfectly valid.

You claim 'strawman'. I claim 'truth'. You claim strawman for you obviously 'see' the validity of my point and have NO valid argument against it. This is how MOST 'trins' react when faced with the 'truth'. It's not a matter of 'truth' to them, it's simply a matter of defending a doctrine that the have chosen to believe in 'regardless' of whether it's 'true' or not.

YOU are the one that has offered 'strawman'. You evade the 'truth' and instead choose to attack ME instead of the argument for lack of a logical or meaningful defense.

I couldn't have said that better Imagican. Surely if there is no substance to your argument it would be easy to refute. Much easier to cry 'strawman' and then totally ignore the truth I suppose.

Trinitarians,

When is the last time you read the NT thoroghly from beggining to end without your theologeans help?

thanks.

I wonder why this is ignored?

Who says we don't read the Bible? The truth is that some of us have several Bibles.

Act 2:42 And they continued stedfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers.

For the same reason they continued in the apostles' doctrine and were together without solely being on their own.

Sodense, I repeat again:

If you are asking in terms of time, I couldn't tell you.

If you are asking just to find out if I have then the answer is yes.

Sodense, I repeat again:

Why are you insulting? Is that Christ-like to you?

I am asking because many churchgoers are relying on their theologians and catechisms for their interpretations.

Why are you so sensitive? I am not insulting anyone. is aked sothense because he did not answer my question and replied vaguely.

I have read the New Testament numerous times without a theologian interpreting it for me.

Hmm, that reminds me of someone who posts a lot, particularly in the Apologetics and Theology forum.

All the time. I write Bible studies and Biblical articles which means that I am dependent on the Bible. A principle of Bible interpretation (Hermeneutics) says you always do your interpreting before you consult other people.

I use Blueletterbible at work and http://www.bible.cc for different versions.

I can't remember exactly how old I was when I was given a Bible but I read it every night reading two or three chapters every night for three years before I became a Christian. I didn't go to church much because churches were not in walking distance and I didn't have any commentaries because a pre-teen doesn't normally have that kind of money. I could easily take a digital picture of my first Bible. It is worn out from doing evangelism because all I did was read and quote the Bible. Pages are falling out but I still have it because its worth more than gold to me.

I'm just curious, Gingercat. What would you say to some of the Christian friends I know? One of them has memorized about 8,000 verses and another one of my friends (now deceased) was an engineer and he quoted half of the book of John to me really fast and it sounded like he was reading it but he didn't have any Bible in front of him at the time. They are very smart people because they have memory skills and they believe in the Trinity.

Those comments are not such an impressive ones coming from who is very devoted to Him.

Well now we know why I don't believe in the Trinity.

Being unskilled and unschooled in the doctrines of man as I am, I would rather this be said of me:

When they saw the courage of Peter and John and realized that they were unschooled, ordinary men, they were astonished and they took note that these men had been with Jesus.
