Anyone here have a Raspberry Pi? If so, what are you using it for, how do you like it?

I want to use it for running micro controllers. I don't have one. I hear that it is hard to get them.

It is becoming easier now that demand is slowing down a bit and they are running them in larger batches. I plan on using one to turn my tv into a media center.

I'm humbled to ask what a raspberry pie is. I have to admit I'm at a point in my life where technology is tough to keep up with.

Here you have raspberry pie. My Droid uses ice cream sandwich or gingerbread, and I don't know which one. I just know I love what these little pastries can do for me. I regret that I spent so many years pounding them down for the taste, never considering I could have used them to talk to others, email, text, and surf the net even before cell phones and the Internet had yet to be invented. :lol

Seriously, I wonder why these crazy names are used. Also seriously, what is a raspberry pie, ice cream sandwich, and gingerbread bread? I don't mean to steer this off topic, but what the heck? If Hostess is making a run at Apple, they'll win every time if it's up to me! :yes

I might be on the face of a cliff, hanging by a lead line, listening to a bat's ultrasonic twirps with a bit of software developed by me that monitors patterns, categorizes them, and plays them back intelligently via transducer. I don't know, I am sure there are many instances that battery ran computers would be great! Think quadricopter with bi-scopic vision for collision avoidance. Many things!

Oh, I don't doubt you could use batteries to power it, I am just saying that generally electronics like these usually go through them pretty quickly. It is possible this wouldn't go through them as fast due to its size, but this is an issue, and you would probably have to bring a lot of batteries with you to keep it running.

Here is a neat conversation about running off of batteries, though they never state how long they are able to make it last. It looks like a fun project.

BTW, your sig is great!
