Reading fiction is good for you

Looks good
I'm on chapter 3. Very interesting and relevant.
Not for the faint maybe.. exposing what some elitists want and try to hide.
what I like about it is that everything written is backed up with evidence..
Not an escapist book tho. More like the opposite.. ?

I remember the book about Narnia. That was great imagination.
Don't know how Christian or not it is..

U mentioned Peterson. I like him

I think C S lewis Narnia was a Christian book. Aslan the Christ figure who sacrifices his life for everyone.

I even find some of the stories by Stephen King quite special too haha
And i think Edgar Allen Poe is very poetic.

But I wouldn't necessarily recommend getting too much into such.

That's good. Because the story is very unique to me

Yes I did. In fact when I was an elementary school teacher, I used to read it aloud to the kids. They loved it.
That is a fine short story about Humble:)
I always had respect for teachers. Some of them still remember as a good memory.

Ok the snob in me has to add, read the classics. If you eat McDonald's every day, you will become Ronald McDonald. Good books are like good nutrition. Of course the Bible is a very good book. Maybe the best book(s) ever written. But read other classics too. I'm trying to get into Homers The Illiad. It's tough. I haven't given up yet. Something tells me it's important to understand the Greeks. They did influence Christianity, you know. Aristotle on Thomas Aquinas for example.
We had to study The illiad for our final exams at school . Loved it and was totally absorbed.

Only parts are fiction. The story of Jesus of Nazareth as the Son of God, is true, true, true.
But even Jonah and the Whale, is an awesome story, whilst fictional, has enormous spiritual truth.

What about a donkey talking?, and saying something like "hey man why did you do that to me?".

Then again a donkey does have a voice box so it could be possible.

Don't know if this post is right for this thread. Felt like sharing if interested tho..
Didn't find the written version but can be found in his books.
This man is much responsible for my Christian walk.

You think so huh? You should make a point of going and meeting Jonah when all this is over and ask him, lol. I believe that was real. One does not take a ship the opposite direction from where God sends you!

A honky tonk talking donkey. Thumping and prancing along. Happy to do what's right for the lord Jesus Christ... ?

I find real life to be more strange, amazing and interesting than any fiction I've ever heard or read

You need to do extra reading Edward. Jonah is a different writing genre. It's not the literal truth.

What does that even mean? Is that french for it wasn't literal? So a donkey really didn't either? Or no one has been raised from the dead?

There's verses in that scripture what says the words of God are truth and they are life. So would that be a lie because a whale can't swallow a man or a donkey doesn't really talk?

Unless they really can. That would explain it. It was real.

Spiritual truth Edward. That's all that matters.

Do you believe the story about Noah to be literally or not? ?

Donkeys do have a voice box and vocals. It's just looking into the science of it to see if they could make out words, not that they do or would, but if it is actually possible.

Like birds don't talk but some birds get taught to speak words. Like cockatoo and budgies.
