Reasons You're a Christian

This is not going to be a debate, but I'm just interested to know what are some reasons that you guys believe that Christianity is the true religion (or, in other words, why you're a Christian). For example, is it because of a certain spiritual experience that you had at one time of your life? Or that there was something that you prayed for and then you got it and you felt it being answered in your heart? Furthermore, did you feel that your faith gradually increased the more you read the Bible and the more you learned about it's history?

When it comes to religion, those are some important and fundamental questions which I think all believers should ask themselves including myself (since I'm a Muslim). And that being said, some of you may have no answers to such questions, though, if you're a Christian who simply believes in Christianity without having any rational explanation behind it, but that's okay, too.

Most non-believers often tend to think that our religious views developed from our upbringing and social conditioning by our parents and therefore has little to do with our own genuine search for the truth. Although that may be true for some religious people, at the same time, I think that there are also many of them whose beliefs have mostly grown from their own reflection and less based upon external influences. If you think that your faith falls under the latter category, then I would just like to know what kind of arguments, knowledge, and/or personal experiences made you come to that position. That's all.

It is the only true path to salvation, meaning we will spend eternity in paradise rather then in hell. Pretty good reason to me.

Christianity to me means knowing Christ, living in Him, walking in Him, letting Him live His life through us. All of these things are promised in the Bible to the believer in Christ. It is not a question of rules. None of us our perfect and can follow all the rules perfectly all the time .... no one on the face of the earth. As Christians, we are in Christ, and have believed in the fact that He Himself took upon Himself the punishment for our sins. This frees us to live a life of freedom in Him, rather than to live a life of fearfully obeying rules. Yes, Christians often do not follow those rules. The Church of Jesus Christ is imperfect. But Jesus died for me so that I could live a life of freedom in Him. If a person does the right thing because He wants to, in my opinion or belief system, that is much better, than doing it because he is following a rule. In my opinion, this is what makes Christianity stand apart from every other world religion. Additionally, Jesus is the One who died for our sins. He has already paid the price.

I am saying this as what I believe. I am not saying it to tell someone else what to believe. I am saying it to answer your question: It is why I am a Christian, and not a member of one of the other religions of the world.

Best wishes and peace to you,
Moving Forward

John 14;6 “I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me.

To me its the answer to why we are here. Everyone eventally asks where did we come from and where are we going. I have been a christian my whole life, but several years ago, I had a preacher at the end of his sermon made the statement. "If you can't get past "In the begining GOD" the rest of the bible just wont make sense". That woke me up and showed me I have to get closer to God, to have peace in my life. Ever since the bible has done nothing but open up something new everytime I open it up.

I believe Jesus is God in flesh. That is why I am a Christian.

Because Gods word does not come back void and sets out to accomplish what God has already said. Try Gods word, test Gods word and taste that the Lord Christ Jesus is good. Deuteronomy Chapters 27 and 28 explain the curse and the blessings of God.

John 3:
1 There was a man of the Pharisees, named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews:

2 The same came to Jesus by night, and said unto him, Rabbi, we know that thou art a teacher come from God: for no man can do these miracles that thou doest, except God be with him.

3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.

4 Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother's womb, and be born?

5 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.

6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.

7 Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.

John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

1 John 5:20 And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life.

I was raised Christian, but I think if it hadn't been for my own spiritual experiences then I'd have become an atheist/agnostic at some point.
Although I "got saved" since I was little, I'm still a Christian because God revealed Himself to me and after that it was no longer "I believe God exists", but "I know He exists because I've talked to Him".
