Repent!

Yes, Paris was a tragedy, but less than half the number of people were killed than usually die in one single plane crash.
Willie
I'm shocked.
Plane crashes are accidents -
Paris was murder - Mass murder.

(just reading thru, maybe I missed something...)

No kidding. Everybody freaked out about Paris needs to ask themselves why not the same emotional response to a Russian airliner bombed out of the sky over Sinai with greater loss of life?
It's psychological Sinthesis.
Most people don't get on a plane -
Most people go to restaurants and night clubs.
It's scarier because: It could have been ME -

Plus, plane crashes are old news
This is new and exciting news -
Good for ratings -

I'm going to church.
I hope you will all spend some time with God and prepare yourselves for the end when it comes, because it is coming.
Some are experts regarding the end times.
I don't know too much about this.
But I know this: Every day will be the end for someone.
So it just makes plain sense to always be prepared.

This is how God intends it to work:
29Two or three prophets should speak, and the others should weigh carefully what is said. 30And if a revelation comes to someone who is sitting down, the first speaker should stop. 31For you can all prophesy in turn so that everyone may be instructed and encouraged." (1 Corinthians 14:29-31 NASB)
As you well know Jethro, prophets speak the word of God - they proclaim it.
The problem is that we want to INTERPRET it. And then the problems begin...

I know what you're saying. My daughter and her boy friend wanted to move to LA, but I told her that's not a place she wants to be with all the droughts, civil unrest, economic problems....
She listened to you?
What are you doing right?!
Maybe you could write a book??

Yeah, thanks. So while you lived there for that brief period are you claiming you actually saw California sinking, or breaking off from the continent, or any of the other rumors the fearmongers spread? Like you actually went to the beach and saw the ocean overtaking land beyond the tidal range that had never been underwater before? And I mean due to the land actually sinking and not becoming dry again, not just because of some temporary natural reason like a storm during high tide. That NASA report is talking about something drought related and temporary that has always happened during the common and normal droughts in that part of the country, and you are saying that's a sign that the end in near? That's rich! :biggrin2 Although I understand why people like to talk about these kind of things. It is a lot of fun to watch everyone get all scared and it does give one a sense of power to be part of the cause of that! Yeah, I really do understand. I had a lot of fun watching all those people burying years worth of supplies in the Mojave desert in 1999 preparing for the end of the world too! :yes

I've read that due to how the Andreas fault runs north to south, California could actually become detached at certain points. It would have to be a big earthquake and maybe more than one. I can't remember too much about this. Anyway, it could be taken methaphorically, maybe, for this thread, definitely Hollywood can. You know, Hollywood denotes an idea, like "America" also does.

Silly question but what's the best way to repent?
Gerbilgirl
Here's the dictionary meaning of repent and then I'll tell you the best way to repent:
vvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvv
re·pent 1
(rĭ-pĕnt′)
v. re·pent·ed, re·pent·ing, re·pents
v.intr.
1. To feel remorse, contrition, or self-reproach for what one has done or failed to do; be contrite: "[He] liked to visit prisoners and admonish them to repent of their ways" (Adam Hochschild).
2. To feel such regret for past conduct as to change one's mind regarding it: repented of intemperate behavior. You'd better accept their offer before they repent.
3. To become a more moral or religious person as a result of remorse or contrition for one's sins.
v.tr.
1. To feel regret or self-reproach for: repent one's sins.
2. Archaic To cause (one or oneself) to feel remorse or regret: "And it repented the Lord that he had made man on the earth" (King James Bible).

vvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvv

However, it doesn't really explain what repent means.
In Christianity repent means TO CHANGE DIRECTION

This is an important concept. It means that you were walking in one direction and then you stopped, turned around and walked in the other direction.

So, you were walking in the direction toward satan. You were going toward him, as most are since they are lost. Those lost are walking in the direction leading to satan.

Then one day you decide to TURN AROUND and walk toward God. You change your direction and now you're walking toward God and you become saved.

This is important because if we say that we "repent" for our sins it has to mean in the sense of being sorry - and not repenting. You only need to repent ONCE, otherwise it means you're trusting in yourself to get saved an not trusting in Jesus.

Once you repent, everything is called sins - for which Jesus covers you. You're still headed in the right direction - you just get up and keep going.

What is the best way to repent?
Just DECIDE to walk toward God.

I think you will be happy to know that the dead in Paris did not bleed, they all died without spilling a drop of blood. Pay attention to what is going on, we are the last nation of the beast system with armed citizens and they are trying to fix that. The end is near.

II Chronicles 7:14 KJV.
If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

This OC repentance is man based and limited in time and defined.

The repentance of John the Baptist is twofold: confess sins and believe in the one who comes after me. Belief in Jesus brings eternal life,

Two covenants, and one is the better covenant.

I sound like a platter record repeating the same thing over and over, however if we are depending on our repentance we are locked in our action over and over. If we depend on the work of the Messiah. It is a one time salvation accomplished by him. To return to repentance crucifies the Son of God again.

Hebrews 6:4
For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost,
5 And have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come,
6 If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame.

Baptized into:
Father - Repentance
Son - Salvation (one name)
Holy Spirit - Empowerment to witness

Rednecks struggle to keep it all separated (men's fence posts rot - modern ones rust off)

Strong's for repent from Matt 4:17

G3340
μετανοέω
metanoeō
met-an-o-eh'-o
From G3326 and G3539; to think differently or afterwards, that is, reconsider (morally to feel compunction): - repent.

Some are experts regarding the end times.
I don't know too much about this.
But I know this: Every day will be the end for someone.
And that is the realization that finally put my mind at peace about the end times. You can argue and debate it all you want but what matters is that the end for you, if God allows you to live out your years, is 75, plus or minus 5, minus your present age. That means the end times will happen for me in about 20 years.

And then show actions in accordance with that change of mind...

"that they should repent and turn to God, performing deeds appropriate to repentance." (Acts 26:20 NASB)

If we've changed our mind about something (repented) then it should show in what we do. That only makes sense to me.

Good Scriptural Post.

No, the people who start and spread those rumors have never meant it metaphorically.

Having lived my whole life there except the last few years I've always heard those stories and I'm very familiar with the San Andreas fault having felt several major earthquakes caused by it and it's associated faults, read much about it from respected geologists, and I've even literally sat in it! (In a lot of areas it's an actual deep trench that you can walk down into.) But it's all fearmongering. Trust me, California is not some kind of ledge sticking out over open ocean that could break off in some fast and cataclysmic event. If this were the case it would be impossible to have geothermal activity such as hot springs, of which there are many west of the fault. No, California is firmly sitting on the crust of the earth and the ocean doesn't begin until you get to the shore. Any movement toward sinking into the ocean is no different than what is happening on the entire west coast of North and South America, is happening on the scale of millimeters per year and will take ages for anything significant to happen.
