Here's the dictionary meaning of repent and then I'll tell you the best way to repent:

re·pent 1
(rĭ-pĕnt′)

2. To feel such regret for past conduct as to change one's mind regarding it: repented of intemperate behavior. You'd better accept their offer before they repent.
3. To become a more moral or religious person as a result of remorse or contrition for one's sins.
v.tr.
1. To feel regret or self-reproach for: repent one's sins.

However, it doesn't really explain what repent means.
In Christianity repent means TO CHANGE DIRECTION
This is an important concept. It means that you were walking in one direction and then you stopped, turned around and walked in the other direction.
So, you were walking in the direction toward satan. You were going toward him, as most are since they are lost. Those lost are walking in the direction leading to satan.
Then one day you decide to TURN AROUND and walk toward God. You change your direction and now you're walking toward God and you become saved.
This is important because if we say that we "repent" for our sins it has to mean in the sense of being sorry - and not repenting. You only need to repent ONCE, otherwise it means you're trusting in yourself to get saved an not trusting in Jesus.
Once you repent, everything is called sins - for which Jesus covers you. You're still headed in the right direction - you just get up and keep going.
What is the best way to repent?
Just DECIDE to walk toward God.
I spent some time on the explanation because I firmly believe that if you understand the word, you understand the concept - so words become important.Thank you for the info!
Kiwidan,Repent. My friend is repenting his repentance to me and I said take it straight to The Most high.
I told him i don't need or want to hear his confessions myself and he needs to take it directly to the Most High.
I think he needs and wants Christ. I told him repent to God not me.
I'm always there to support but I'm just a man, repent to The Most High and his Christ.
Why tell others your problems when you have The Most High. The Creator. The Greatest. The King of all Kings and Life who gives life.
Praise the Lord.
James 5:16 KJV
Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.
(Other translations - faults =sins)
Balance with:
Hebrews 6:4
For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost,
5 And have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come,
6 If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame.
Repentance is the way leading to Christ Jesus, but repentance is not salvation. Jesus bore our sins on the cross:
I Peter 2:24
Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.
Repentance does not save us: it does lead to Jesus. Look ar where the person is:
Has he repented before.
Has he ever accepted Jesus as savior?
Has he received the Holy Spirit? To be a witness we need power. ( I look forward to lashes)

If you're going toward God, you're saved.
I'm not going to argue this.A devout muslim, a follower of allah, walks toward his god never having been forgiven by the Real God who sent Jesus The Christ to a Cross.
So is there a SIN problem with "walking toward god" regarding this allah worshiping person?
And, what would that be ?
I was looking for the "like" button but there isn't one.
"if two of you agree on earth about anything that they may ask, it shall be done for them by My Father who is in heaven. 20“For where two or three have gathered together in My name, I am there in their midst.” 21Then Peter came and said to Him, “Lord, how often shall my brother sin against me and I forgive him? Up to seven times?” 22Jesus said to him, “I do not say to you, up to seven times, but up to seventy times seven." (Matthew 18:19-22 NASB)Somehow when we don't forgive someone it hinders God from doing everything He wants to do - completing all the work He'd like to complete in a person.
How could you say the above?
Repentance is salvation.
If you repent if means you have changed your direction.
That's all repent means.
Once you were going in the wrong direction, heading straight toward satan. The direction we're going in at birth.
If you repent, it means you change direction. You go the other way. The other way is toward God.
If you're going toward God, you're saved.
I see too many different recipes on these threads telling people how to get saved. The only thing you need to get saved is to WALK TOWARD GOD. God is waiting for you at the end of your journey.

I agree."if two of you agree on earth about anything that they may ask, it shall be done for them by My Father who is in heaven. 20“For where two or three have gathered together in My name, I am there in their midst.” 21Then Peter came and said to Him, “Lord, how often shall my brother sin against me and I forgive him? Up to seven times?” 22Jesus said to him, “I do not say to you, up to seven times, but up to seventy times seven." (Matthew 18:19-22 NASB)
God works where two or more people come into agreement regarding forgiveness. If one holds out....no work, no will of God, is manifest in the earth.
