Once again, I was talking to my older, Pentecostal friend. She pointed out that a lot of churches these day don't believe in miracles and the don't preach repentance as much/at all.

What gives?

It boils down to No fault religion, and no faith.

No fault reliegion makes excuses and blames God for everything.

God chopped my legs off so I can get closer to him.

One I hears a women paster tell me.

God gave my husband a heart attack so he could witness to the guy next to him in the hospital. Praise God He can just tell me and I'll go there, He don't need to send the fish to take me....

If God still does miracles, and all things are possible to them that believe then that means I have to take blame for not trusting God or having faith. It also means I have to obey God in everything through faith and patience. People don't want to be that dedicated and it's best to just blame God for everything.

God took my baby because he was short a singer in the children Choir. People actually say this stuff.

My son contracted terminal cancer, If He had died, it would have been My fault, Not Gods. God gave my son to watch over him physically and spiritually, my son shares the same covenant with God I do. I expect constantly for God to move, I don't count failure.

They don't preach repentance because you might chase away some good givers in the church. God forbid we do that.

Great post.... Your blessed.

Mike.

I think I also posted this because I sense a connection between "real Christianity"--repentance, faith, obedience, inner-transformation--and miracles. Not that "real Christians" *deserve* miracles, necessarily, just that...somehow, old school Christianity lends itself well to miracles. Something like that. Probably a thought I need to develop further (gotta love the internet--have a random thought, post it for everybody to see, right?).

I am from pentecostal background.. Have attended Pentecostal churches all my life.. I do listen to plenty of Reformed preachers.. Because that is where I can really get some deep messages! That's the truth! Unfortunately, the focus on Pentecostal churches is always about being filled with Holy Spirit.. It is absolutely important.. But equal focus is not given to indwelling Spirit, repentance, regeneration, sanctification.. People stop going to church if there are no miracles, prophesies and tongues in that particular church.. It is a sad thing.. There is no focus on preaching Word..

That is pretty generalized there.

When I go to church, I want to hear deep revelation in the Word. I wonder why people go to church without any power of God? Not all of them, but sitting in a Methodist, Baptist, or Catholic mass is like sitting in a building with no power connected to it.

Luk_4:32
And they were astonished at his doctrine: for his word was with power.
Luk_4:36 And they were all amazed, and spake among themselves, saying, What a word is this! for with authority and power he commandeth the unclean spirits, and they come out.
1Co_4:20 For the kingdom of God is not in word, but in power.

1Th_1:5
For our gospel came not unto you in word only, but also in power, and in the Holy Ghost, and in much assurance; as ye know what manner of men we were among you for your sake.

Mar_4:19 And the cares of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, and the lusts of other things entering in, choke the word, and it becometh unfruitful.

Mar_7:13 Making the word of God of none effect through your tradition, which ye have delivered: and many such like things do ye.

Mar_12:24 And Jesus answering said unto them, Do ye not therefore err, because ye know not the scriptures, neither the power of God?

It is a sad thing.. There is no focus on preaching Word..

People stop going to church because they are not faithful. If God told you to go to that church then you go with or without miracles. We don't decide what Body of Christ we get set in, we don't decide what part (Body Part) we are to be in the body of Christ. So it's unfaithfulness that causes people not to go to church. I am where I am suppose to be despite what is going on there. It might be even to visit a Catholic Mass, but when I am told to go, I go.

It is a sad thing.. There is no focus on preaching Word..

If you read all my above scriptures, then Preaching and teaching the Word of God will produces signs and wonders. The word will produce what it said it will produce. The Kingdom of God is not in Word only but in great power.

If there is no power, then there is no word. The church is just full of traditions, doubt and unbelief. The Pastor does not even have a personal relationship with God because God is mysterious....... My friends are not mysterious and My own Father is not Mysterious. I know My fathers will on Healing, sin, and a whole lot of other things.

Preaching and Teaching of the Word will always bring power.........

You sound like people have to make a choice, pick the word to be preached or get some Holy Ghost feelings going.

Without the Word there is no power.

Mike.
