Pat Robertson Blasts SNL Tebow Skit: ‘There’s an Anti-Christian Bigotry‘ That’s ‘Disgusting

Televangelist Pat Robertson doesn’t mince words when it comes to faith and this time is no exception. The outspoken faith-keeper blasted Saturday Night Live‘s recent skit of Denver Bronco’s quarterback Tim Tebow on Monday, calling the parody a “disgusting” attack on Christianity.
“There’s an anti-Christian bigotry that is just disgusting and I think Saturday Night Live did a parody of that, had Jesus come in,” Robertson said.
Robertson even went on to suggest that if SNL had done a similar parody mocking Muslims, there would be “bodies on the street.”
Mediaite adds:
“If this had been a Muslim country and they had done that, and had Muhammad doing that stuff, you would have found bombs being thrown off!”
“And bodies on the street!” interjected co-anchor Terry Meeuwsen. “And bodies on the street!” Robertson repeated. “And we think it’s okay.”
“Tebow is an example, and I think he is a wonderful human being,” Robertson said. “We need more religious faith in our society. We’re losing our moral compass in our nation and this man has been placed in a unique position and I applaud him. God bless him.”

I've heard people on the news saying, 'It was comedy,' as long as there is no ill intent, then it's ok. I personally don't agree with that. Anyone who took Jesus seriously wouldn't take him lightly, and SNL comics do it at their own peril whether they realize it or not. I think SNL needs to be reminded of when they cross the line, even if they don't take it seriously.

When people do that, they don't know any better.

I think too many Christians give this a pass and go along with this mockery of Christ either because they want to appear light-hearted, or because He does not mean that much to them. Tebow reflects the Light to the world and never implies that "God Wills him to win", but they continue to put this on him. Fortunately, he rises above this nonsense.

I don't appreciate Jesus or our faith being misrepresented to mocked, and I don't think Christians glorify Him by laughing along with the world. Our Savior is NOT the butt of a joke. SNL has always been irreverent as its writers and actors change, so I assume it is anti-Christian from the top down.

There should have been more mainstream Christian leaders speaking out against this.

I had changed the channel from what I was watching because I don't like commercials. :lol I landed on NBC halfway through the skit. :o It really was in bad taste. :nono2

I may be going out on the limb by saying this, but I feel Tim Tebow should speak out against the spectacle that has been made out of the outward display of his faith.
