Rollo's end times "in crowd".

But it has to happen sooner or later, right?
Pre Hitler it wasn't possible to destroy the world.
Now it is.

What's mimetic theory?
I don't use google.
Humans are more interesting.

Wondering
Actually, Rollo wasn't far off. Mimetic Theory is fairly complicated in all its ramifications, but here is the simple version.
Ever notice that when children are playing, and there is perhaps one toy no one cares about..... until another child starts playing with the toy. THEN they will all fight over that one toy.
Or, to take it in the opposite direction...... the guy down the block who has never bothered anyone has lived fine for years.... until he is left a brand new car by his deceased uncle. Then, all of a sudden the neighbors get to talking about how he doesn't keep his house up as well as THEY think the neighborhood should be maintained. This can, and has actually escalated to the point of vandalism and/or violence. Sometimes they will eventually run him and his family out of the neighborhood with their treatment of them.
Students often fall victim to this sort of thing when they are not as "cool" as the in-crowd at school.... or, these days, are Muslim. Several school shootings have had their genesis in this sort of behavior by a group against an individual, or a smaller group.

If you are into study, you might want to check out the late René Girard. This would be a good time to begin using Google.

Well, Hitler coming within a hair's breadth of grabbing power throughout the world had nothing to do with any "End-times" stuff.
I think Hitler was the seventh king.

"The seven heads are seven mountains on which the woman sits, 10and they are seven kings; five have fallen, one is, the other has not yet come; and when he comes, he must remain a little while. 11“The beast which was and is not, is himself also an eighth and is one of the seven, and he goes to destruction." (Revelation 17:9-11 NASB)

At the time of writing the seventh king of the eight had not come yet. Obviously, the seventh king noted is not the eighth king, which we call the end-times beast and anti-christ who opposes Christ at his return. So the seventh king is a king worth noting in prophetic history somewhere between the sixth king reigning at the time of John's writing and the beast of the end of time. Hitler's got my vote for being the king that "has not yet come (at time of writing); and when he comes, he must remain a little while".

Hi Willie T
I Googled Mimetic Theory.
I admire anyone who could read this stuff.
I like your short version better.

I'm just a little worried that if I read too much, I might become a psychologist.
I apologize to all psychologists out there...

Hey, I'm a psycho.
You wanna be one with me?

One's thing certain in my mind....we will need an end-times in crowd in the not to distant future. What that means is the true church of God is going to be driven underground. The church of the world becoming steadily more and more polluted by the world, and the casting down of truth will require true saints to abandon their compromise and their attendance in the Spirit-less church of the world and seek the true Spiritual fellowship and worship they long for in small, discreet meetings led by pastors and elders who also have abandoned the church of the world.

That's a good thing. At that time we will have 'church' that truly accomplishes that which God intended for it to accomplish. Lovers of truth and of God will flourish and rejoice at that time. And it will separate out the pew warmer. These will be great days of the church here in America. It's already been happening in countries where terror and violence against the truth reign.

Jethro,
I'm sure you don't know what's going on in that big denomination church known as the CC. However, I do. I'm in the midst of it, even though I'm not part of it.

I can confirm everything you say in your post above. This time, the heretics are on the inside and in the gate and the true believers (yes, even some Catholics are true believers) are outside the gate, by order of the gate keeper (and I don't mean Jesus).

I've recently heard that my favorite church in the U.S. is beginning to go a little crazy. That would be the Nazarene Church which I attended for about 10 years but a long time ago. It was a nice, pure, holiness church back then. You know, good holiness - not that weird type that says women can't wear pants and all that other legalistic stuff.

Well, just to say that I agree with you.
And since we're here in our own little crowd, I can tell you that I agree with you on almost everything.
Doesn't that make you soooo happy??

No worry. I only worked for a Psychologist, facilitating Behavioral Modification Classes.
BTW, here is a fun little "game" you can play that will demonstrate one facet of the Mimetic Theory:

Sit across a table from someone, and hold right hands.
The object of the game is for one of you to give a short, light squeeze to the other's hand.
Then, the other person is to squeeze back at EXACTLY the same pressure, for the same amount of time.
Repeat this, each one taking turns, and keep on doing it for a while.

Doesn't sound like much, does it? But after thirty or forty squeezes, see if you notice something happening. I won't tell you to expect, but you can try it, and get back to me with your findings.

Here. Let's get rid of the suspense.
You won't be able to tell who's squeezing anymore.

Well?

I'm guessing the reactive squeeze will be harder and of longer duration. Multiplied by 40 times you'll be crushing each other's hand by the end of the game.
You got it. Now, imagine that same attitude and response in personal retaliatory responses between individuals, or worse yet, military responses between nations.

Okay Jethro.

Remember Willie's response when you answer my Cana post!!

Oddly enough, I don't fall into this theory. I don't go on posting forever.

Well, actually, as I mentioned, the Mimetic Theory is fairly complex and complicated, comprised of a variety of degrees, facets and angles. Even though we may not know it, or even want to admit it, if we do suspect some susceptibility to such a thing, this theory is probably a lot more than merely a theory. And it does seem to affect all our lives.

As it was in the beginning of the Church having to hide themselves from the Romans so will it be in the end of days

Matthew 10:28 And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.

If I am still alive during the end of days trumpet soundings, especially the seventh trumpet where many who are in Christ and He in them will either be imprisoned or beheaded for their faith in Christ that refuse the mark of the beast I will be like Paul and Silas and sing praises to the Lord and be a witness to my executioner. Why fear physical death as the grave is not our final destination.

Come with me and we'll hang out with Ralph.
