Rotator Cuff Surgery

I haven't seen rotator cuff surgeries done with a laser in all my obsessive youtube searches. No way it could be done like that for mine. One of the torn muscles needs to be pulled all the way over the ball of the arm bone (that's the scientific name), and it's a long stretch. Glad yours went well!

Sadist!

If that's how you do your job, I wouldn't want you working on my car either. Broken tie rod? Yeah, Jason has a chain saw for that. LOL

You have a choice, live with the pain, or go through more pain to evenrually relieve the pain.

I pulled my shoulder almost 3 years ago and had to go to PT and met my deductible... it helped. However, wrestling really helped. In other words, PT gets it moving again, but you have to learn to push it, or even after your surgery you won't fully recover.

Surgery isn't a magic pill at our age that makes things better. It takes time and constant effort to get your full range of motion back. I almost have mine back... and I didn't have surgery, even though they wanted me to.

That may be true for many injuries, but when 2 of the 5 muscles in the shoulder are fully snapped and one of them is the major one, that ain't healing with exercise. I'm willing to go thru this, even if I end up with limited range of motion. At least I'll have tried.

We could replace it with a great 1 ton ball joint?

Sorry, I meant after your surgery. I had really bad antrophy for over a year so I'm sure you do too.
After your surgery, it may take a few years for your shoulder to make it back, but you have to push it without re injuring it. It's something you will have to learn from trial and error.

I don't know how regimented you are with exercise, but you'll need to keep that shoulder moving and doing more than a keyboard.

What pushed me was wrestling. I made my best advancement while the other guy had me in the chicken wing ranking on my shoulder. Talk about a stretch! That was last summer and it's only gotten better.

I can teach you a few moves lol!

Gotcha. Yes, I know it will take a long term commitment to rehab on my own. I am much more disciplined with that kind of thing when there is a specific reason to stick to it. I'd never want to go through an evasive surgery only to throw it away by giving it a half effort afterward.

Great! Then I'll expect you at wrestling practice next season!

We're only children!

My daughter in law, about the same age, has done two full marathons.
She did a half last Saturday.
But I think it's too much.
