Route pics

Those meters were used longer in the Midwest. Some areas still use them.
The socket ,not the dial meter. I have read dial meters on new homes.which is odd given they arent remanufactured .they are more expensive then the digital meters.30 bucks versus a few dollars.

Oops! Guess you did indeed draw attention to the socket as opposed to the meter!

Haven't seen a set-up like that .... doesn't look safe.

It's not dangerous.I was close and aimed up to get the socket and zoomed in.I was about five feet from it

I wonder why it hasn't been updated........
It costs the owner.a meter socket is owned by the owner not the grid.we own the meter.when the meter fails and we can't install a digital meter.we then go from there.I have a home on the other route with the photos of the orange home,in fact across from it.thar has the same style socket with a digital meter.

I guess the owner figures that if it isn't broken, then there's no reason to do anything about it.

we will tell them. the meters usually will stop or be way low. they whine about their bill an they get a way more accurate meter. then they really see how high it is. I warn them about that.

Nothing's worse than getting fooled by a meter, thinking one's low bills are accurate. I can imagine they aren't pleased to learn the reality of it. I know I wouldn't be happy to be caught off-guard. But those things do happen.

I remember Grand Harbor.

The neighborhoods have changed a bit since 1981, haven't they!
some of that is still there. the groves there was there when they put Indian river boulevard there. slowly they went away. there was a home on 45th st , I think that is visible. its listed as north Gifford .
