  • Focus on the Family

    Strengthening families through biblical principles.

Focus on the Family addresses the use of biblical principles in parenting and marriage to strengthen the family.

During the reign of Jesus, after the first resurrection, the law is re-established on earth, and the feast of booths is reintroduced to the nations that want rain according to Isaiah and Zechariah, but when the new heavens and earth come into being, after the second resurrection and great White Throne judgment. I do not know what will be the characteristics of the physical and spiritual world we inhabit other than the light coming from God Himself. If we measure time, it will not be relavent to us as we know it now.

Isa.2:2,3 And many people shall go and say, Come ye, and let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths: for out of Zion shall go forth the Law, and the word of the LORD from Jerusalem.

Zec 14:16 Then it will come about that any who are left of all the nations that went against Jerusalem will go up from year to year to worship the King, the LORD of hosts, and to celebrate the Feast of Booths.
17 And it will be that whichever of the families of the earth does not go up to Jerusalem to worship the King, the LORD of hosts, there will be no rain on them.
18 If the family of Egypt does not go up or enter, then no rain will fall on them; it will be the plague with which the LORD smites the nations who do not go up to celebrate the Feast of Booths.
19 This will be the punishment of Egypt, and the punishment of all the nations who do not go up to celebrate the Feast of Booths.
20 In that day there will be inscribed on the bells of the horses, "HOLY TO THE LORD." And the cooking pots in the LORD'S house will be like the bowls before the altar.

Here's my problem withnthis sabbath in the new Earth. In the new Earth, we will be made perfect and we will continually be praising God. The New Earth will have no rest. What need is there for a sabbath, which was a day set aside for thw worship of God, and rest?

I'm curious Jay T,

If there will be no more night (Rev. 22:5), how can there ever be a sabbath, a seventh day for rest and worship?
Good Question!

BUT....I have no answer.

All I know is what the Bible tells me.

It is obvious that God has some way, that those who are eventually saved, will know.

" And there will no longer be any night; and they will not have need of the light of a lamp nor the light of the sun, because the Lord God will illumine them...."

Yet you seem to think there will be a moon and new moons? I don't think so.

I think maybe you need to read Isaiah here with a little more temperance. See the following passage:

For behold, I create a new heavens and a new earth; And the former things will not be remembered or come to mind. But be glad and rejoice forever in what I create; For behold, I create Jerusalem for rejoicing And her people for gladness. I will also rejoice in Jerusalem and be glad in My people; And there will no longer be heard in her The voice of weeping and the sound of crying. No longer will there be in it an infant who lives but a few days, or an old man who does not live out his days; For the youth will die at the age of one hundred years old And the one who does not reach the age of one hundred Will be thought accursed. (Isaiah 66).

No, our eternal rest IS our Sabbath rest. We won't be working and need any days off. There will be no days of the week because there will be no sun to mark them. And there will be no work days and a rest day. Eternity is our Sabbath rest.

That was already answered here at the bottom:

The no night there, is in the City where God dwells. (He outshines all light see 2 Thessalonians 2:8 )We will Worship God in the New Jerusalem city on His Sabbath day. (there is NO night there! see Revelation 21:1-2 & Revelation 21:11) The 'new' heavens still will supply us its light elsewhere. '..build houses and inhabit then +' ---Elijah

However, God does point out, that He has a people who are perfect....who have keep all 10 commandments, as well as having the faith Jesus Christ had...........
Revelation 14:4 "These are they which were not defiled with women; for they are virgins. These are they which follow the Lamb whithersoever he goeth. These were redeemed from among men, [being] the firstfruits unto God and to the Lamb.
14:5 And in their mouth was found no guile: for they are without fault before the throne of God".

Revelation 14:12 " Here is the patience of the saints: here [are] they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus".
