There are lots of views on salvation.
Some say we can lose it, others say "Once saved, always saved (OSAS)".
But rather than get into a heated argument over it, let's just talk around the fireplace on this cool late autumn day, have a nice hot cup of something with some homemade cookies, and express ourselves to one another.

How do you view salvation?
 
I've always taken the stance of OSAS, but that's just me. The fact that we ever are saved is purely a result of God's grace in introducing Christ into our lives. I think if someone is TRULY saved and knows Jesus, they will not be able to be separated from the love of God (Romans 8:37-39)

As another poster, my understanding is that it is not possible for the gift of salvation to be taken away but I do believe it is possible for one to walk away from the gift. At the same time I find it extremely difficult to understand how, once tasting the gift, anyone could come to the decision to actually give it up. I guess it could be said that I walk on the fence on this topic.
 
I pretty much view salvation as OSAS, though one can walk away from it if they so choose like previously noted. I suppose I could be wrong on that, but it doesn't really matter to me because I have bigger fish to fry than to ponder such things.

I do not see salvation as the primary focus of Christianity, or eternal life. They are a bonus. The real focus I believe is seeking a personal relationship with the Lord, and being able to live in Him, Him in me, to dwell in His presence. The transformation back into the original image (of God) that we were originally created to be. To walk with God, as a spiritual being means so much more than just getting to live forever. It is being in the Lord's presence.

All of the Near Death Experiences that you read about...they all say the same thing. Feeling an extra-ordinary feeling of complete love that they have never felt before. This is God, and being in His presence! To live this...everyday and feel it without it ever leaving or only being a temporary experience...will be, absolutely wonderful.

On the other hand, those who will go to hell. The torment that they will feel, is not the fire and pain, I don't believe that. The real torment will be a complete and utter separation from God. That will be the torment. We have never felt this, for we have always been indwelt by the Holy Spirit since we were born.

Ah, yes. ORBW cookies.

Kinda like OSAS.......the stuff dreams are made of. :lol

(Actually it depends on what day of the week is it whether I'm ORBW.....I mean......OSAS.)

Pastor Jimmy Swaggart says osas is not true. Pastor Charles Stanley says osas is true.

The Apostle Paul said, "22 Yet now has [Christ, the Messiah] reconciled [you to God] in the body of His flesh through death, in order to present you holy and faultless and irreproachable in His [the Father’s] presence. 23 [And this He will do] provided that you continue to [s]stay with and in the faith [in Christ], well-grounded and settled and steadfast, not shifting or moving away from the hope [which rests on and is inspired by] the glad tidings (the Gospel), which you heard and which has been preached [t][as being designed for and offered without restrictions] to every person under heaven, and of which [Gospel] I, Paul, became a minister". 11 Faithful is the saying: For if we died with him, we shall also live with him:
12 if we endure, we shall also reign with him: if we shall deny him, he also will deny us:
13 if we are faithless, he abideth faithful; for he cannot deny himself. 2 Timothy 2:11-13 ASV

What are your thoughts on these three scriptures?
 
Since this is an informal expression of our views, this is what I think about salvation.
I've always believed what Adam and Eve had in the garden was similar to a parent/child relationship. As children grow up they lose their innocence and gain knowledge. Which is what I believe happened to humans. Young adults that were given the law as a foundation, trained up in the way they should go. To me the new covenant means we are on our own now, so to speak, young adults that no longer live under our parents roof. We are free moral agents now.
As adults, we have to choose to have a relationship with our parents. We have to want this relationship in order for it to work. We can't go back to the way it was, a parent child relationship, because innocence one lost cant be restored. When we were children we didn't have a choice to have a relationship with our parents, as adults when we choose to have a relationship, doesnt that make it all the better? It isn't based on 'obey' this or 'do' that anymore but is now based on mutual trust and respect. Not that we are equals, each has a place, but that trust and respect are the foundations of any loving relationship.
God the father, Jesus the son. They have a relationship. To think that a King would offer us the title of sons and daughters of God, well I think that's a hint of the things to come. I think once we have faith Jesus is our lord and savior, we are welcomed into his family, so to speak, and we shall never perish nor be plucked from the Kings hand. My kids may not always obey or listen, but that has no bearing on their position as my kids. It may certainly have other consequences, but losing their status as my kids isn't possible.
Just my humble opinion.
 
Hi Jib, I'm from central Florida.
I throw in that fireplace stuff for the rest of you.
Today was 86 like most days.

Anyway, salvation is something I have and I know I'll never lose it.
Why?
Because God gave it to me and he's not an indian giver (is that not politically correct?).

Knowing I have salvation lights up my soul.
I can know in the deepest part of my being that I will spend all eternity with God and life will be good.

The blessed hope?
God will give us new bodies that will be sin free and last forever.
Jesus promised all this would be true.

Yes, I will spend my life drawing closer to God and hopefully, do and say and think all that will be pleasing to God.
And in the end, I'll be perfected in the presence of God.
That glorious glorious day I'll receive a ticket to ride the train to heaven.
