[_ Old Earth _] Scopes

I see no one wants to defend any of the fake "evidence" from Dr. Marc. So we'll take a look at some of the stuff he's left around the internet...

Maybe the dumbest is the "population game." Marc pretends that human populations have been growing at a steady pace from the beginning, and if so, one pair would, if no one died childless, and everyone had four kids, eventually give us the population we see today. Or, if we pick houseflies, the world is a few months old.

How about "the Moon has receded to exactly the right point to just cover the Sun, and God wanted us to have total eclipses, so the world is young."

Except humans arrived too late. You see, the Moon, unless it's at the right place in its orbit doesn't quite cover the Sun. So we get annular eclipses, and it's been that way since before humans civilizations began. So maybe Marc figures God's timing is a bit off.

How about the "We have too many comets" story? Marc doesn't realize that we've seen the Kuiper Belt directly, showing that there are uncounted billions of comets out there; only occasionally does one get nudged out of orbit and fall toward the Sun.

He also thinks that short term comets are just a few years in period, and long term ones just a few thousands of years. Pretty solidly ignorant, Marc.

There's more. Anyone want to see more? Or someone could tell us something from the video that impressed them.

I'm not holding my breath.

Fake evidence? He's agreeing with Gods word

Exodus 20:11 For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.

You just need a miracle in your life Barbarian, then you'd understand..

If you'd just let God be God, you'd know what that miracle can be. Let the pride go, and accept Him and His creation.

However, that's not relevant to the made up stories your guy was telling to reinforce his new religious ideas.

If you don't think those are the best ones he put forward, feel free to show us something different.

Barbarian do you believe anything exists or can happen outside the "natural order"?

If you're a Christian, you should know that there's a difference between the physical universe and the rest of creation. I don't know what you mean by "natural order." Do you understand that God created nature, but nature isn't all that there is?

Are you a Trinitarian Christian? Or are you thinking of God as part of nature? What?

No! I was just curious about your position on things considered by some to be super or supra natural.

I don't know what you mean by "natural order.

Yes the physical universe and all that entails is usually the definition I go by, but once when I was a very adamant and somewhat arrogant agnostic a number of things that seemed outside the natural order began to happen, and that tipped me to seek the direction which led me to God and finally Christ. These were things that happened IN the physical universe (with others present that they also experienced) that could not possibly be explained by the laws or principles of "nature".

In my walk with the Lord (even among trinitarians which I am one of) I note there are a number of camps (YEC, OEC, Theistic Evolutionists) that I know love Christ and know there is a God and strive to live as He prefers us to. So I was just curious. A friend Mike (MA from Harvard Divinity) who is a Priest now, cannot accept fulfilled prophecies and must exlain them away as written in after the fact because he cannot accept God operating IN the Universe in opposition or addition to the laws of the Nature He created...

So I was curious but thanks for clarifying...

Miracles happen all the time. This universe, as St. Augustine pointed out, is a miracle. But He doesn't run it by miracles. When a miracle is done, it's not because He has to tinker with nature to make it work. It's done to teach us something.
