Those who oppose the scripture truth of limited or particular atonement, that is , Christ died only to save some of mankind as opposed to His death being a provision for all mankind as an opportunity for them to be saved, contingent upon them, their Faith, or their repentance or their water baptism, and ect, whatever it maybe, they do not believe that Christ cross work saves alone in and of itself. When I say cross work, that includes, His Obedient Life, His death, burial, and resurrection and His present ascension on the right Hand of His Father with all power given in His Hand, and having received of the Father the Holy Spirit of promise to apply His saving benefits to each chosen vessel of mercy He died for, hence accomplishing their full salvation with Eternal Glory.
The first scripture text we will look at is 1 tim 4:
10 For therefore we both labour and suffer reproach, because we trust in the living God, who is the Saviour of all men, specially of those that believe.
The word Saviour is the greek word Soter and means:
saviour, deliverer, preserver
Now, there is a sense by which God, the Living God is the Saviour of all men without exception in that He is our providential preserver, all creatures exist for God's purposes and we are preserved[in a providential way] until such purposes have been fulfilled.
Scriptures that denote this: Neh 9:6
Thou, even thou, art LORD alone; thou hast made heaven, the heaven of heavens, with all their host, the earth, and all things that are therein, the seas, and all that is therein, and thou preservest them all; and the host of heaven worshippeth thee.
You see, God gives us life physical and preserves it, maintains it. All creatures are dependent upon God even for their natural lives.
Job 7:10
I have sinned; what shall I do unto thee, O thou preserver of men? why hast thou set me as a mark against thee, so that I am a burden to myself?
acts 17:
24God that made the world and all things therein, seeing that he is Lord of heaven and earth, dwelleth not in temples made with hands;
25Neither is worshipped with men's hands, as though he needed any thing, seeing he giveth to all life, and breath, and all things;
God giving life to all, thats part of preserving them, being their Saviour.
Now, in this manner, the Living God is the Saviour to all men without exception, giving them their due rain and sunshine, unto the Just and Unjust. as it reads:
Matt 5:45
That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust.
