Secular Music a sin?

There are only two paths to travel
right and wrong
or
just and unjust
or
righteous and unrighteous.
Regardless of what name you give them
they are Godly
or
ungodly
Between the two there is nothing
no
gray area
no
allowances for any person
or
reason
Nothing short of the will of God
can ever be or turn in to anything Godly
The path of a Godly person is narrow
every choice in their life is an intersection
a
fork in the road
with only two options
I fall short under my power
Thank You Jesus for Your love
and
forgiveness
and
being my salvation
The only way for anyone to do Gods will
is
through Holy Spirit
Whom You sent me
Thank You Jesus

So Louie, Louie is a sin eh?

Some things are what you make them.

A carrot is just a carrot unless you can only see it as an evil tuber.

Should we also avoid secular art, secular poetry, and just...anything that isn't specifically Christian? Should we have Christian cars and Christian computers, too?

If secular music is evil then so is a good deal of classical music. As much of a reputation as it has for being "Godly" or "written by Christians", a good bit of it wasn't. #learned about the composers as part of my musical education

Let's call a spade a spade. Secular/worldly music, is it good for a true Child of GOD?
Not according to my "What are your most hated songs" thread.

But seriously...
"To the pure, all things are pure" (Titus 1:15 NASB)

It really depends on your heart--your background, knowledge of these sorts of things, etc.
For example, Rollo can't listen to 'Yes'.
I have no problem with that.

How can you have a "no problem" with a "yes"?
Make up your mind, will you?

The way i deal with the fact that i love music and not just "Christian",....is that if its secular, i notice the lyrics and the videos.
Some lyrics are not over the top carnality, and not all videos are porn created by putting Beyonce` in them.
If im shopping for a DVD to watch, i go directly to the rating., and i read it carefully.
Often i try to use Christian Spotlight on the Movies, as a guide.
Its a dirty secular world we are stuck in, and we have to try to stay clean when we are in it, and that takes a concerned + concerted effort.

But lets say we are dealing with a brand new Christian who has been deeply involved with the worst type of secular music.
We cant just say...."hey, go enjoy Lady GaGa and Usher, and we'll meet you in the first pew next Sunday".
So, we cant stumble a believer, simply because we have things under control that they are struggling with daily.

Maybe we should just join the Amish, nothing worldly there.

Hmmm. That stinks of legalism to me.

I like Donna Summer.
Am I going to hell?
