Anyone got a few guide lines on this. I cut myself pretty badly while poking holes through a potato to bake. I'm not going to the doctor, cause I can't afford it. I have a needle and thread ready, I'm just not sure how to do it as I don't have much sewing experience. Please don't tell me to goto the DR., I've been through worse and I know how to stop blood flow on major wounds just not stitches on minor ones. Thanks.

is there a clinic that treats those that are uninsured. and have done the paperwork for the va 2 hospital care? it aint great, but its affordable you earned that one.

yeah, but it's an hour away and closed. My only options are the ER or doing it myself. I'm opting for myself. I can handle it.

sorry, width is that of a steak knife blade,so not very wide and I have used liquid bandage and the butterfly sutures, without much effect.

for legal reason , i must advise the er. if they tissue is that deep infection will set in and if you stitch are tolerable of the blood spatter and the pain of driving the needle through the flesh to close it. most docs aslo give tetanus shots and the numb the area and then stitch it.

i see that you could use super glue first then gause,

I would absolutely advise ER..you can deal with legal and payment afterwards. I would not advise doing it yourself, unless you really knew what you're doing, as you could casue other problems.

I promise on everything I have, which isn't much but I have a lot of honor, and that you have no need of worry of legal troubles from me. Same goes for anyone on site, I'd rather have death than betray a friend or well meaning person. Jason, I trust you like you were a good leader in my own chain of command. I feel in my heart that your a good man. If you know how to stitch wounds then please pm me, I just need something to go on quick, beside you should be covered by good sameritan laws. I know words are hollow but you can trust me not to betray you if anything should go wrong, if nothing else I will stand by my honor to the bitter end. Besides if I won't sue you who will? I never will. Your friend in need right now,
Ryan Thompson

Just apply pressure...elevate your arm and the bleeding will stop.

I've had worse cuts on my horses and they eventually close up.

I have faith in your honesty, Ryan. Just had to post it, ya know?

Hope it goes well and I am sorry I can't be of more help.

:pray

I already owe close to three grand to the hospital for kidney stone crushing. I doubt they would treat me because of my past due debt.

The hopsital can't refuse to treat you if you go into ER. Well at least in Australia they can't.

It'll be fine. Just relax, take a wet towel and apply steady pressure. Don't keep taking the pressure off to look at it. Elevate the wound above the level of your heart and the bleeding will stop after a short time. Keep your hand still after the bleeding stops and don't try sewing it up or putting anything on it until it's done oozing. My son has come home with wounds that sound very similar. There's no hurry on the stitches...just make sure you get the bleeding stopped for now.

if said hospital is takes medicare or medicaid then they have to treat you. it's the law, ryan look up the hospital to see if its a public run one.

Ryan, I understand if you don't want to or can't do this, but photos can help a great deal.

I've been drinking but let me try and get photos.

Has the bleeding stopped yet?
You really need to make sure the bleeding has stopped before you take pictures.
Once you start applying pressure (just a gentle pressure) don't stop to look or it won't coagulate (probably 20 min. or so.). Keep it elevated.
