I bet that first step in business for yourself isn't much different than mine: cash outlay now, not much time to build a cash reserve as an employee, then little coming in that you can be sure of.
Take a job working for somebody else, then when you're in financial position to start on your own it kills you to lose that steady paycheck. But if you survive to your first good job, you'll make as much from that as you would all week as an employee.
In other words, change is stressful.
