That is something we deal with every day. How do you know that anything anyone ever tells you is true or a lie? The best you can do is follow Jesus and tell the truth. Do you automatically go into every situation with the belief the person is lying to you or do you give benefit of doubt and trust them until they prove otherwise? I personally take the latter route.

This is also why one should get everything in writing including the offer from a job interview. You can bet the potential employer has everything in writing from you. After all, you did fill out a job application and that's what that is used for.

Those body language books are extremely interesting. I was only interested in girls when I read my first one, lol.
Later the same info was useful everywhere else. My Wife called me a human lie detector.

I wasnt looking for the lies during my job interview, too excited lol. But it's like you said, I interviewed him too and he has been proving himself to me also during this so called probationary period of employment.
I passed his test, I know I did. He failed mine!
Big meeting this morning to talk it over. The general manager already said I have legitimate concerns.

I can't go in there alone, can I? I'd prolly mess it up. I have to take the Lord with me this morning. He'll never know what hit him lol!

You ever feel like your calling might not be to ministry at all,but the workforce?

Ugghh .. terrible day at work so far. Everything seemed to be fine but a little office politics and a lack of communication can change that in an instant. I'm doing my best with what I've been given. This place is very fickle and it seems like the whole office can be in a mood one way or another. I prefer a more drama free atmosphere. Praying the Lord will turn it around for me so I have a stress-free weekend!

God is so faithful! I had a much better afternoon - got some good feedback and heard some background on the office politics (okay, fine, it was kind of gossipy, but it helped.)
I still feel totally overwhelmed and it feels like I've been there much longer than 5 weeks but I have to hang in there.

Things are getting funky in the job market. Here is my little story:

I had two really good jobs, each spanning over a dozen years. Even though they were big well off companies, there were always layoffs every year, sometimes twice a year and nobody ever knew if they were safe or not.

In October 2016 they moved our lab development (wireless LAN) over to China and laid most of engineering and support off. :angry It was a total bummer because it was a really great job and we had an awesome group of dedicated people!

So, I found another job at some scrappy LED lighting company that was reasonably close by to my home. It was a huge downgrade in pay and work environment. My job went from knowing what needed to be done and having people depend on my work to set them up to do their job, to working for a total micro managing boss who felt he had to spoon feed me everything. Some people there sort of looked down their nose at me because I was the new guy and I guess I had to prove myself to gain their respect. So my manager, he was from Russia and spoke very broken english, so everything he said was very difficult to understand. It wasn't just the words, but his understanding on how to say a phrase was backwards or chopped up, so it took a while to figure things out. He didn't understand me either, so it was sort of a messed up deal.

The other thing is, my former job went from lots of (jack of all trades type, running around the building) responsibility to setting at a desk all day and reading (legal type document) compliance manuals along with filling out tons of paperwork for every project. I really hated that job, and oh, it paid 40% less than I was making before and benefits were way worse but it's all I could find unless I wanted a 3 hour commute to Cleveland everyday. Finally, the company got bought out by some overseas company and they laid much of engineering and compliance off including me! Whooo HOOoO!

So to Lisa in FL; Sounds like things will work themselves out. Not every job is peachy and it might take some time to settle in. Just remember that God puts us through trials to temper us, teach us and draw us closer to Him and you have to just hang in there.

Thanks for sharing this Joe! I'm glad to hear from everyone that can look back on their past job woes and say "yup, that was awful, but I'm still standing and I've still got Jesus."

Were you just laid off from the company that was bought out? Does that mean you are currently unemployed?

Yes, unemployed from that job, but I have some work in photography and hope to get something going there. I loved my electronic jobs, the hardest part was getting there and getting back home alive.

Its a hobby for me and I've thought about trying to make a business out of it - maybe real estate photography - not sure.

Yes because I worry about everything . .
And I know, I know - "be anxious for nothing". I have the knowledge and the understanding for verses like that, but this flesh isn't cooperating with me right now.
I'm working on it. The drive the other day went well and the meeting went as well as it could, so I'm thankful for that!

And I agree, JoeBean needs to elaborate on that comment!

Well there is a point about every time we get behind the wheel we take our lives in our own hands. And before I was ever allowed to take a spin I had to endure the spiel about thinking of it as a loaded weapon. These are real dangers to be aware of.

But I'm thinking the "getting to work and back, alive" was probably a little more than just that. I am glad your trip went well!

Glad you have some photography as a side business! What kind of photography, if you don't mind my asking.
Its a hobby for me and I've thought about trying to make a business out of it - maybe real estate photography - not sure.

Thanks. I've captured a little bit of everything from sports to landscape but would like to get into portraits and maybe business website photos. I need to buy some lighting gear and backgrounds. I have some opportunities coming up. There is a lot of competition out there these days, so not sure how it will go.

Praying it will work out for you! You can find some decent equipment on Amazon that's reasonably priced. I recently bought an off-brand speedlite I found on there that had great reviews and was way cheaper. I'm happy with it. Works great!

I went in there with such high hope, and the Lord with me...it was so weird. My boss butted in and was totally...no heart. I quit. I had to.
It turned out opposite of what I expected.

I hit the bricks tomorrow morning though. Wish me God's favor. Lol.

Get you that job doing service calls! Everybody and their Brother has to be wanting to service their AC about now, right?

Hi Edward - I'm so sorry to hear that! Praying that you bounce back very quickly! And Razeontherock is right . . its hot out there so I'm sure there is plenty of work to be had. Maybe think about starting your own business again?

No, that was Friday.
The market is viable all right. The entire hvac industry is booming right now. Its been hot, and there's all sorts of new stuff coming out...(some of it's good, lol)
