just curious should a christian be a politician, i see much potential to help the kingdom, by being an honest politicain , but i aslo see the temptations as well, as ultimate does corrupt, jason

I completely agree. While I think it's important to have Christians in many jobs, to spread the Word etc, for a Christian getting into a political career...should be very careful, as you said there's lots of temptation, and it gets pretty nasty out there. Depends on the individual I think.

I would say that "world" would include political positions also. Imho of course. ;) :D

You will get a lot of experience just by running. ;)

City council is a good place to start, and those races are easier to win than a state or federal position plus take a lot less money.

Even if you don't win, you will learn a lot for the next time.

For local office, keep up on the hot topics in your community. Go to council meetings and observe what goes on. Get the city budget (and read it). Do a lot of research so you can hold your own in the debates/town halls etc. That's where you can shine and separate yourself from the pack (Bring new ideas etc). Get out and talk to people in your community i.e. literally knock on doors in your district (very important). To sum it all up, be very knowledgeable on the issues, have your own opinion, be charismatic, talk to as many people as possible.

I ran in '02. Learned a LOT. You will get dinged up along the way but it is part of the learning process - like riding a bike for the first time, you fall down sometimes but get right back up and try again. ;) :D

well if do decide to run i must get out the military as it would be a conflict of interest, the time way for guard time is the issue, and i would only be to run for the county commisioner or other as i live in unicorparted part of the county, my uncles on both sides were city commissioners.

btw i do work for a local government, and as i decided to vote and seen how this city is run and such forth i began to think how would i do it. I grew up here anyway, i know what you mean and it can get ugly. pm me and i'll give the city's website and you'll see how small it is, if you're intersted in this, i dont want the world to know where i exaclty live, know what i mean

As reasearcher has said; you have got time. Take Researchers suggestion and start researching and studying. I would also take this time and go in my prayer closet and pray for tuff skin. We the American People do need Dolphins in public office but the untrustworthy sharks try to bite and hurt our compassion right out of us. But with God on your side they won't be able to take a bite out of you.

Yes. Some people have no scruples when it comes to politics. The media will try to make you look bad etc. Your pearls will be out in the open, and there are a lot of "swine" running around more than happy to trample on them. ;) ;) Lol. ;) :D
