Should a Christian go to a palm reader? What does the Bible say?

You already know the answer to that one.

How do you know? I know some Christians who have no problem with this sorta thing.

I don't think your question is important
(just like you didn't think what Jesus' hair looked like is important)
:P :P

It's a form of witchcraft, don't take it lightly.

Deuteronomy 18:10 There shall not be found among you anyone who burns his son or his daughter as an offering, anyone who practices divination or tells fortunes or interprets omens, or a sorcerer

Galations 5:20 Idolatry, sorcery, enmity, strife, jealousy, fits of anger, rivalries, dissensions, divisions..

Acts 19: 18-20 Also many of those who were now believers came, confessing and divulging their practices. And a number of those who had practiced magic arts brought their books together and burned them in the sight of all. And they counted the value of them and found it came to fifty thousand pieces of silver. So the word of the Lord continued to increase and prevail mightily.

1 John 4:1 Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, for many false prophets have gone out into the world.

1 Peter 5:8 Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.

It is more important than the length of Jesus's hair because getting caught up in this sorta thing isn't good for the soul. The length of Jesus's hair has no effect on our soul whatsoever. ;)

The length of Jesus'' hair is more important of a question than most you ask. Know-it-all :P :P

Maybe Jesus had a mullet. ;)

I like those scriptures. They should settle the case against witchcraft, palm reading, etc.

Where is the hair thread at ?

no, absolutely the will lead away from christ, as most tarot readers, and palm readers will mostly tell u what going on in ur life, but that comes from a demonic source, and the Lord can tell u what u need to hear and will help u to change and overcome those issues, he's our source, no talking to the dead isn't possible as that is written about in ecllasiates and 1 or 2 kings.

Jesus cares for us and wont use our needs to manipulate us in to hell , or do to evil, allow us think that were good when there's sin, and he'll hold us through our pains.

I see no problem with it if done in a "fun not taken seriously" kind of approach. The minute you start taking it seriously and think it will guide and structure your life then you are in trouble.

Look, on top of the biblical references that tell us this is a bad idea, we can also think logically about it. Consider that Godly life God calls us to...one of the things that marks a Godly life is our reliance and trust in the authority of God. If you are going to a palm reader, even for "fun" you are demonstrating to yourself and the world a lack of faith and trust in the authority of God. I mean, part of our walk is indeed what others see.

What about reading the little papers inside fortune cookies?

I like to read those for fun, but nothing more.

Those one's that say things like "Help me. I'm being held captive in a Fortune Cookie Factory!" :-)

I think the key is, what are you opening yourself up to with such things?

Can one go to a palm reader just for fun? If it's something that's part of say, a PTO fund-raising event and the "fortunes" are along the line of "Beware of eating too much cotton candy", I'd think that was silliness and harmless.

About those fortune cookies though. Some of them print lottery numbers. What about playing those numbers? What would be the motivation of doing so?

If one gets the idea that there is "something to this" one is on dangerous grounds.

To each his own. Some don't have any issues with these things. But, if there is the slightest stirring in the heart of "wow, this is really something" then one should refrain.

There is a spiritual realm. Don't open yourself to things that you don't understand.

And most of us have a very limited understanding of that spiritual realm.

But the bible is chock full of prophets, surely a palmist is a kind of prophet?

I personally wouldn't go to one, my path is straight and true thanks to the teachings of Jesus.
