There was a time when the parents instructed our boss never to allow the guy play pools. What the boss had to do was to keep his salary and only give him part of it for transport and feeding.
He plays the soccer pool too. And smart guys always play 'WIN' for FC Barcelona, Real Madrid, Man U etc

What your church is "for", or "Against" doesn't necessarily matter a hill of beans.
I can play pool without a problem - but I'm not very good at it, so I don't waste the money.

I see nothing wrong with pool. I don't think you should play for money in a situation where the loser pays the winner.
