Should Christians smoke cigarettes?

Lewis W said:
The Bible tells us to warn them, or their blood will be on our hands.

Greetings, Lewis W

Do you remember the first time that you heard about a teen shooting in a public school? I won't call this to mind further by mentioning the name of the school but I remember that time well. Many people asked the question, "Where were the parents of that child who shot his peers at school?" We (the nation) were shocked at what happened; shocked and dumbfounded.

A question: "Why didn't their parents teach that child the difference between right and wrong??" was heard throughout the land. This Sparrow was a Father who grieved the tragic loss of life. Yet many years later, unto this saying, this proverb about "the responsibility of a parent" --heard throughout the land, a REPLY.

I called my sons to me:

SONS: GATHER TO ME NOW!
  • "If you ever find yourself wondering about killing other students at school remember this:
Killing other students at school is WRONG. Being diligent to learn this lesson and the good lessons taught at your school is RIGHT
    ."

I dismissed my boys with the statement:
"This day you have been taught the difference between right and wrong!"

The duty had been discharged. Should any of the chilldren of the "House of Sparrow" turn out to be mass-murderers, at the very least, the duty to warn had been discharged and no bloodguilt could or would be transferred to the parent.

Lewis, I say this to you not as a mockery but as a form of gentle correction. You have performed your duty here. Even though I am quitting smoking this day and forever, I agree with what you have said, and further absolve you of any and all taint of bloodguilt. None shall come through me and toward you, my brother. You have my solemn word, you have done exceedingly well in the warning you have given and I have heard it by your lips. :salute

Cordially,
~Sparrowhawke

PS - May I also ask you to add prayer, continued support and "amen" to my prayer request posted in forums (I suspect that you may have already done this, our Father in heaven knows). You have my thanks and my blessing commanded in return.

Now picture this, and I know that some of you remember, there was a time that you could smoke everywhere that you went, in all public buildings, and I mean all, the movies, even on public transportation. And if you did not smoke' well that was to darn bad, because there was no way that you could escape it out in the public. I remember public transportation here in Philly, looking like a smokey bar, and I was smoking on them too, because I started smoking in 1966. And I think they outlawed it on Philadelphia public transportation, in 68 or 69 I think it was 69, but people was still lighting up, bus drivers too. All doctors offices and hospitals had ash trays because smoking was allowed, and you did not have to go to the lobby or outside to smoke. I also remember when cigarettes were 19 cent a pack, in 61 and 62 and they just kept going up, and in 1966 the year I started they were about 45 or 50 cent a pack.

Should christians eat chocolate?
Should christians wear make up?
Should christians overeat?
Should christians drive an expensive car?
Should christians dance?
Should christians drive a carbon monoxide spewing vehicle?

"As I pointed out in the other discussion, if you sit two ppl in a garage and one is smoking the worst that will happen to the non-smoker is maybe some eye irritation from the cigarette smoke. If you sit two ppl in a garage with a car running and the exhaust blowing into the garage your gonna have two dead bodies before long." - http://www.mylot.com/w/discussions/1467692.aspx

The same question can be applied a little differently....Should Chritians be fat? Should Christian watch TV and Movies?Should Christians not exercise and remain unhealthy?
