Should I Continue?

Hello Everyone,

Just some backstory on this show I watch: I read the Mortal Instrument books and for the first time ever I felt like my soul was cringing because the author was dissing my faith. It was subtle at some points and other times you could tell what the author was aiming for. For the first time ever I threw the books in the trash with a warning to any Christian or believer of God, to beware of books' message.

Now there's a show about it (called Shadowhunters) and it's not that bad. My soul hasn't cringed and I told myself that if the show got to be where the books were, I would cease to watch it. But I'm interested in some characters and how the plot will pan out for the storyline.

The demons in the show don't bug me, what bugs me is the constant homosexuality they show. They show two men kissing and talking about sex. I don't believe in that as God as said it's wrong. So I'm conflicted: should I watch the scenes that focus on the story and skip the homosexuality parts or should I cease watching this show altogether?

Just a thought on this. Even though the more noticeable messages in the book are not as in-your-face in the tv show does not mean they aren't there. They are just a bit more subtle. Most likely you will end up turning your back on this series the same way you did the book. And, I don't blame you. There are plenty of shows and movies out there we, as Christians, should avoid.

After all...garbage in-garbage out.

Thank you both for answering! I do have a feeling one day, I'll just switch channels. I wish there wasn't anything in there as the plot isn't that bad; I guess I just wish that shows were wholesome again without an agenda, but sadly we don't live in those times anymore. But you're right there are a lot of subtle things in the show that I'm probably missing. I'm still praying about this too.

I know how you feel, it is getting harder and harder to find decent, pure shows on television. Keep God in your heart and prayers and he surely will show you the way.

About 1962 i wanted to go to the movies like all the other kids... Mom knowing me so well knew a flat out NO i would have found a way to sneak ...Mom said something like .. Reba dont go to any movies you wouldnt take Jesus with ya to see... Even in 1962 that was limiting ... i use moms words as a guide even today.... As for TV ,here is a surprise they all have an off button..
