Should we interpret the Bible as literal?

ok. so you believe that Isaiah 9 isn't fulfilled that jesus didn't die on the cross and that some prophecy say isiah 53 aren't fulfilled? really the word preterist is latin for past as in fulfilled.not the connation of partial or orthodox that imply some of the prophecies mentioned by the prophets , jesus, and john are fulfilled.

Kathi there is a BIG difference in preterist views. Myself and this site believe that full preterstism is heresy They do not believe the Lord will return... I sure do and know Jason does....

There are some christians who dont believe in the gifts of the Holy Spirit... some do both are Christian...

uhm no, its more literal. just to give you some info and reba can personally attest and perhaps can post the links to her debating me when I was a pretribber on thi.s, its more literal. when jesus said the resurrection of the just and the unjust. its one resurrection not two. paul also said that. that to me isn't allegorical and btw. I don't take the bible that way. theres a few places where the bible says its allegorical and even then its a literal story used and recorded for an allegory. the tanach in its length is such a case. why can I say that? see galatains where paul says the law is unto hagar and the law of grace is as unto Isaac. a literal story with a message.

if you can show me where in modern day western culture were men will cast dirt on their heads and mourn please do so.

Christ was not referring to the people of that day but to the generation or people who would be witnesses to the events recorded in Matthew 15:15-31.That generation will be those who are witnesses to Christ's bodily return ( verses 29-30)

ok, so when ye shall see the army surrounding the city of Jerusalem know that the desolation draweth nigh. so modern isreal is decimated once again? you say that is to come. why must a jew see and be punished for something that he didn't do? the modern jew didn't crucify the son. that is what ad 70 was about.
