Texas Judge used to beat his child, so what do you think of this video of it. I for one don't see anything wrong with it. She was wrong and got her tail kicked, and that is all there is to it.

I've been reading about this myself.

I think it's very significant that she sat on this video for over 7 years, and comes out with it now after her father told her he was going to cut her allowance and take away her Mercedes. 23 year old women shouldn't be getting an allowance from Daddy anyway.

At any rate...I think it's inappropriate punishment for a 16 year old...even a rebellious one. But, it's also a family matter. I've felt the backside of a belt more than a few times myself. I don't view it as something to destroy a man's career over, nor send anyone to jail over.

But, nonetheless, I find other forms of punishment and discipline far more effective than this kind of thing for older kids. My daughter ever downloads pirated material...she'll get unplugged...nothing electronic or battery operated allowed. That idea keeps her in line far more than a "spanking" or even a whooping with a belt ever would. It wasn't wise on the part of the father...but I don't think it's criminal either and I think the 23 year old young woman has some real issues, living off her folks and then retaliating in this way when the gravy train is about to stop.
 
In Biblical times kids still got their tails kicked at that age. And when we were coming up it was normal, and guess where it came from, the Bible.
 
IMO there's a line between discipline and abuse. Sure, you can hit a kid a couple times to discipline them. However, beating your daughter for 7 minutes with a belt while yelling at her the whole time is clearly abuse. And I'd imagine this wasn't the first time too, the first time she wouldn't have a camera in the room filming.

There's really no need to hit a kid anyways, there are effective methods of parenting that don't involve hitting a kid. I don't remember being spanked or hit when I was a kid, and a lot of my friends never got hit either.

I am not against corporal punishment. I am against parents losing it on their kids. There is a proper way to spank and when done in anger and frustration, as their father obviously did, it turns into abuse imho.

That being said, why is everyone saying this beating went on for 7 minutes. The video was 7 minutes....the girl hardly got beat that long. :chin

I'm just going by what I read, I didn't actually watch the video. I'd really rather not watch a girl being whipped with a belt by her raging dad.
 
Well at least he did it with a belt on her behind parts and not with his fists. Dr Phill says that there is no reason to beat any child with a belt for any reason. Secular man's laws is one of the reasons for a high jail population.
 
hmm. my bigger issue is that she waits seven years later to post this.

makes you wonder and she wont be on the gravy train anymore as hes done. i hope that its worth it . i dont think i would be talking to that brat for some time.

How do you correlate not being allowed to beat your kid like this with a high jail population? There are effective ways of parenting without beating your kid with a belt and leaving bruises all over their body. Especially when she is 16 years old, most 16 year olds are mature enough that you can have them learn from or be disciplined by other means.

Because many of today's kids run the parents.

Which 16 year olds are you referring to? I have not met a single 16 year old (myself included at that age) that didn't deserve a good whooping every now and then.

I agree. I am not against corporal punishment, but in this case it looks like abuse. I don't blame her for taking action against him....but why wait so long? :chin
 
This is being discussed on... the other forums I am a member of....

Honestly, her uploading it out of spite is a low blow, her reasoning for uploading it is selfish. Aside from that, This guy is sick. So she pirated some stuff from the internet, take away her privileges so she cannot do it again and if you do support corporal punishment, spank her... but beating her like that is nothing short of abuse.

I'm OK with a simple spanking (spare the rod etc,.) But what we witnessed was, uncontrolled anger and "brutality" mixed with "obscenity's" If you or anyone else thinks this is OK, I'd be afraid to see what goes on behind closed doors in your house???

Can't believe it, but I agree with you...So far as the beating goes...
 
it is not abuse, she just got her tail kicked. I did not see anything that would have caused her death.
