soldier - pastor

Just chatted with my friend a while ago. He told me why he disappeared for a while. He said he went into the military stuff. He is a soldier and also a pastor (precisely an assistant pastor). Strange? How is this compatible?

Jud_1:23 And others save with fear, pulling them out of the fire; hating even the garment spotted by the flesh.

to make my point clear, its not gonna be easy to combine both.
I wish people would actually learn some history, with any instutitions they can be corrupted. in the past and in the present soldiers have after defeating the enemy in an area helped civilians after the battle by maintaining order, we have also after the wars ended started rebuilding.

I'm totally confused, my soccer-loving Jasoncran (I still prefer the old username). I was actually trying to say, combining pastoral work with military stuff is not an easy task. The congregation may suffer or the other.

no, it doesn't. I know its a requirement for all chaplains to be ordained. all that are ordained are trained as pastors, doesn't mean they aren't a pastor of a church. they could be youth pastors and senior pastors.you are also assuming that they aren't like me. full time soldiers if they are ordained are often chaplains. if they are a chaplain they cant carry arms, and cant fight. they are considered non-combatants.
