It is said that when we believe we are saved. Then in the Scripture you posted above, it says that some "receive the word with joy...believe for a while, and in time of temptation fall away." In the context of this it seems to indicate that first, when they believed they were saved and second, one that has fallen away no longer believes and therefore is no longer saved. I have a difficult time understanding this any other way.You sure do add a lot to scripture.
Some become lost after salvation.
Why? Different reasons.
They have little root...
Tribulation comes their way...
Jesus stated this.
I think Jesus knew what He meant to say and said it.
Luke 8:13
13“Those on the rocky soil are those who, when they hear, receive the word with joy; and these have no firm root; they believe for a while, and in time of temptation fall away.
JESUS said they believed for a while... Did He mean this or not? Did Jesus know what BELIEVE means or not?
For the while that they BELIEVED, they were saved with joy.
When temptation came, they FELL AWAY.
What did they fall away from?
THEIR BELIEF.
They became lost.
As to the fruit, that's a different verse.
I'm not sure WHICH verse you mean...
Matthew 7...Matthew 12 ?
In either case Jesus is saying that a good tree brings forth good fruit...
a bad tree brings forth bad fruit...
What has this to do with Luke 8?
I agree. It is said that when we believe we are saved. Then in the Scripture you posted above, it says that some "receive the word with joy...believe for a while, and in time of temptation fall away." And when did you ever fall away?It is said that when we believe we are saved. In the context of this it seems to indicate that first, when they believed they were saved and second, one that has fallen away no longer believes and therefore is no longer saved. The reason I asked you this question is to prove my point. And when did you ever fall away?
Doesn't matter if he ever did or not.And when did you ever fall away?
This "never was saved" to begin with is a man-made contraption to be able to prove OSAS.

When I was young, I believed. Then in my early 20's I stopped believing. I even went so far as to write an essay for a college course using the Bible as my source of reference when my topic was the inaccuracy of the Scriptures. Although the professor was not particularly keen on my choice of topics, he did inform me that it was well written and gave me a pretty high mark in the context of what our exercise was. I ridiculed believers for what I believed to be their foolishness and absurdity. I most definitely fell away. It wasn't until I was in my 50's that I came to my senses. I believe I am an example of a prodigal son.The reason I asked you this question is to prove my point.
You have never fallen away and you never will fall away.
Why?
Because you are OSAS.
Yes, a fine example of OSAS.When I was young, I believed. Then in my early 20's I stopped believing. you left out such as you WERE ( past tense )Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God. 1 Corinthians 6:9-10
There are two groups, as it seems to me.
One group believes we can become lost again at some point and for different reasons.
The other group believes that once we walk down an isle and "accept" Jesus,,, we can never lose our salvation.
If they continue to hear and obey the Lord they will not wander away from Him, and become lost.
If they continue to disobey Him, then they may wander away again, and become lost again.
Ever hear of the story about the the lamb that was constantly wandering away, and the shepherd kept having to go and find it.
Finally, he had enough and broke one of the lambs legs.
He mended it, and carried the lamb with him until it’s leg healed.
The lamb learned to stay close.
That’s me.
The one with four broken legs who hobbles along, right at the Masters feet.
That way, His rod and His staff comfort me, because I stay within reach of it.

Not all do.a true believer will come back to the lord ..just like the prodigal son
If the word BELIEVE has lost meaning...then how can we know we're saved??Jesus is our salvation. Can a man fall away from Jesus? Yes.
But believe does not mean saved. They are two different words. You can't just substitute one word for the other and make a sensible argument.
The parable says this man believes for a while. It doesn't say he is saved for a while.
Many believe for a while. The Jews who had believed in him now wanted to stone him.
31 Jesus then said to the Jews who had believed in him, “If you continue in my word, you are truly my disciples, 32 and you will know the truth, and the truth will make you free.” 33 They answered him, “We are descendants of Abraham, and have never been in bondage to any one. How is it that you say, ‘You will be made free’?”
34 Jesus answered them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, every one who commits sin is a slave to sin. 35 The slave does not continue in the house for ever; the son continues for ever. 36 So if the Son makes you free, you will be free indeed. 37 I know that you are descendants of Abraham; yet you seek to kill me, because my word finds no place in you. 38 I speak of what I have seen with my Father, and you do what you have heard from your father.” John 8:31-38
They believed for a while. In this case they were not of God. They were of their father, the devil.
Given the example, can we say those who only believe for a while are saved? No.
But we might say those who only believe for a while are not of God, and so they were never saved.
I must believe that some were saved for a while because that is what the bible teaches. Why not remains for a while or abides for a while? Why must you believe he was saved for a while?
I'll tell you God doesn't save for a while.
I think it would be more accurate to say if a man is not rooted in love, he remains in Christ only for a while or he abides in Christ only for a while, and then he is broken off and burned.
