Well that first one seems to posit a non-literal reading of the bible. At least from the excerpt I read. So I doubt you would agree with a good number of his views.

And the second one makes reference to the Koran and the Daodeching in the opening paragraph. Seems to be a bit of a theological relativist and metaphysical postmodernist.

So what have you given us? A backpedalling apologist who realizes that literal reading of the bible is flawed by the fact that it contradicts reality and a lot of pomo claptrap. Good job Gary. Whenever I need pomo a-literal biblical scholar to reference, I'll think of you.

Gary I really don't care if Antony Flew is no longer an Atheist. I might have a problem with it if he converted to a specific religion, but he hasn't. He's a deist. As it is, I disagree with him. I think it's foolish to say that we can see the hand of God in scientific work. The hand of god is looking more and more like a Gaussian bell curve, if that is the case. Furthermore, it's a fallacy to give authority on the existence of an underlying metaphysical reality to someone who can't know anything concrete about it. You're just as likely to get a useful response if you ask a duck whether or not it thinks there is a god.

The idea of finality is very sobering. Considering the man is 81 did you ever consider the possibility that fear may have something to do with his sudden turn around. Atheism is not for the faint of heart.

I would say that's a false concept. Deism has no afterlife, so his sudden turn around wouldn't be fear. He did make a statement about the Christian and Muslim God, saying they were like Saddam Hussein. So berean kinda lost on that one.

Age could be a factor in his disbelief, considering his argument rests on the "impossibility" of DNA rising without intelligence.
